How to exercise for lumbar disc herniation

Lumbar disc herniation is a very serious lumbar disease. Many people are very scared when they hear about lumbar disc herniation, because patients with lumbar disc herniation generally cannot walk normally, and in severe cases they cannot even get out of bed. However, if they do not exercise for a long time, it will only aggravate the condition. Therefore, although it is inconvenient for patients with lumbar disc herniation to walk or exercise, they still have to force themselves to exercise. So how can patients with lumbar disc herniation exercise?

If a person lies in bed for a long time or does not exercise his muscles for a long time, it will cause muscle atrophy and poor blood circulation. Therefore, patients with lumbar disc herniation must strengthen exercise in normal times. Of course, there are methods to pay attention to when exercising. I will introduce them to you one by one below.

1. Functional exercise principles: slow first then fast, small amplitude first then large amplitude, local first then overall, light first then heavy, frequency from slow to fast, step by step, persevere,

2. Functional training forms and contents:

a. Exercise in bed:

(1) Straight-leg raising exercise: Lie on your back and actively perform straight-leg raising exercises until you can no longer lift your legs. Another person can help you raise your legs 5 to 15 degrees further. When the patient feels slight discomfort or pain in the lower back or affected limb, slowly lower the legs and perform the exercise alternately.

(2) Supine arch bridge exercise: Lie on your back with your knees bent. Use your head, elbows and feet as support points to support your back, waist, buttocks and lower limbs in an arch shape. When the patient feels it is the highest height, put it down and then stand up again.

(3) Flying Swallow Touching Water Back Extensor Exercise: The patient lies prone with the head, neck, chest and lower limbs raised at the same time. The arms are extended backward with only the abdomen touching the bed. The whole body is in an arched shape, like a flying swallow touching water.

Lumbar disc herniation? Patients should also perform exercises outside the bed, including:

(1) Small-angle flexion, extension, lateral bending, rotation, and circumferential rotation of the spine.

(2) Squat-stand-chest-up exercise.

(3) Slow squat exercise.

(4) Alternate between fast and slow walking exercises.

The above is an introduction on how to exercise for lumbar disc herniation. Although it is very inconvenient for patients with lumbar disc herniation to exercise, and they may even experience pain all over their body, they still need to strictly demand themselves, otherwise the condition will only become more and more serious. Of course, patients with lumbar disc herniation must exercise moderately, and it is best to exercise scientifically under the guidance of a doctor.
