Arisaema is one of the traditional Chinese medicines with a long history. It can detoxify and reduce swelling, dispel wind and calm the nerves, and resolve phlegm and disperse nodules. It is mainly used to treat facial nerve paralysis, hemiplegia, infantile convulsions, tetanus, and epilepsy. Used externally to treat sores, swellings, snake bites, and kill fly maggots. The one treated with bile is called Gastrodia elata, which is mainly used to treat phlegm heat, convulsions and convulsions in children.

【Nature and flavor and meridians】Bitter, pungent, warm. poisonous. It enters the lung, liver and spleen meridians. Its toxicity is that the tubers are poisonous.

[Usage and Dosage] Generally used after processing, 3-9 grams. For external use, take an appropriate amount of the raw product, grind it into powder and mix it with vinegar or wine to apply on the affected area. For livestock use: 15-25 grams for horses and cattle. 3-10 grams for pork and sheep. 2-5 grams for dogs and cats. Rabbit and poultry: 1-3 grams.

【Function and indications】

1. Drying dampness and resolving phlegm. It is used for cough caused by cold phlegm, damp phlegm and stubborn phlegm, as well as chest distension and tightness. This product's function of drying dampness and resolving phlegm is similar to that of Pinellia ternata, but its warming and drying properties are even stronger. It is used to treat cough with excessive sputum, white, thin sputum, chest tightness and greasy tongue coating caused by stagnation of dampness and phlegm. It is often used together with Pinellia, Tangerine Peel, Citrus Aurantium, Poria, etc., such as Daotan Decoction. If the cough is caused by lung heat and the sputum is yellow and thick, it can be combined with herbs such as Scutellaria baicalensis and Trichosanthes kirilowii to clear away heat and phlegm.

2. Dispel wind and relieve spasms. It is used for wind-phlegm syndrome, such as dizziness, phlegm congestion caused by stroke, epilepsy and tetanus, etc. It can be used together with Gastrodia elata, Pinellia ternata, etc. to treat dizziness caused by wind and phlegm, chest fullness, vomiting, etc., such as Yuhu Pills. It is used to treat wind-phlegm stagnation in the meridians, numbness of hands and feet, hemiplegia, deviation of mouth and eyes, etc., and is used in combination with Pinellia, Chuanwu, White Aconitum, etc., such as Qingzhou Bai Wanzi. For the treatment of tetanus, it is often used in combination with Ledebouriella Saposhnikovia, Angelica dahurica, Aconitum carmichaelii, Gastrodia elata, etc., such as Yuzhen Powder. In modern clinical treatment of epilepsy, buffalo horn, borneol and pepper are used together. For the treatment of Tourette syndrome, it is used in combination with Pinellia ternata, Bombyx batryticatus, etc., and has certain therapeutic effects.

3. For external use, it can disperse nodules and reduce swelling. It is used for carbuncle, phlegm nodules, joint pain and other symptoms. For the treatment of carbuncle and phlegm nodule, grind it into powder and mix it with vinegar for application, or grind raw Arisaema into a thick juice with vinegar and apply it. For the treatment of swelling and pain caused by rheumatoid arthritis, mix old ginger and raw calamus, mash them and apply them to the affected area. In modern clinical practice, raw arisaema vinegar solution is used for external application on mumps, with satisfactory results. For breast abscess, mash raw arisaema and scallion white together, wrap it with cotton wool, soak it in cold boiled water and then plug it into the nostril opposite the affected breast. 23 cases were treated with an effective rate of 100%.

4. Used for cancer. Cervical cancer was treated with topical application of fresh arisaema combined with arisaema injection. 105 cases were treated, 20 of which were cured, with an effective rate of 78%. Raw arisaema is also used in compound prescriptions to treat lung cancer, with certain efficacy.
