The symptoms of neurasthenia are these

Studies have found that there are many manifestations of neurasthenia, the most common of which is emotional response, which is mainly manifested as easy worry and irritability; the other is sleep disorder, the most common of which is difficulty falling asleep, tossing and turning, which leads to irritability and even more difficulty falling asleep.

1. Emotional symptoms mainly include being easily worried and irritated. The content of the worry often involves various contradictions in real life, which make people feel difficult and unable to solve them. On the other hand, their self-control is weakened and they are easily excited when encountering things; or they are irritable and angry, lose their temper with family members, and regret it afterwards; or they are easily sad and cry. About 1/4 of the patients have anxiety and have doubts, worries and nervousness about their diseases. For example, patients may suspect that they have heart disease because of palpitations and rapid pulse; or they may worry about gastric cancer because of abdominal distension and anorexia; or they may think that they have an incurable disease because of poor treatment effect. This hypochondriasis can aggravate the patient's anxiety and tension, forming a vicious circle. About 40% of the patients have short-term, mild depression during the course of the disease, and the score on the Hamilton Depression Scale is often below 10. They may blame themselves, but generally do not have suicidal thoughts or attempts. Some patients have resentment and blame others for the cause of the disease.

2. Tension pain is often caused by nervous emotions, with tension headache being the most common. Patients feel a heaviness, swelling, tightness in the head, or a stiff neck; some complain of back pain or muscle pain in the limbs.

3. The most common sleep disorders are difficulty falling asleep and tossing and turning, which leads to irritability and even more difficulty falling asleep. The second most common symptoms are dreams, easy awakening, or a feeling of very shallow sleep, as if no sleep was made all night. Some patients feel tired and sleepy after waking up; or they feel sleepy during the day, but when they go to bed they feel their brains are excited and have difficulty falling asleep, which manifests as a disorder of sleep rhythm. Some patients have fallen asleep soundly and snore loudly, but after waking up they firmly deny that they have slept and lack a real sense of sleep. The worry and distress of these patients about insomnia often exceeds the pain caused by the sleep disorder itself, reflecting the patients' anxious mood about sleep.

4. Other psychological and physiological disorders, the more common ones include: dizziness, blurred vision, tinnitus, palpitations, heart palpitations, shortness of breath, chest tightness, abdominal distension, indigestion, frequent urination, sweating, impotence, premature ejaculation or menstrual disorders. Although these symptoms lack specificity, they are also common in anxiety disorders, depression or somatization disorders, but they can become the main complaint of patients seeking treatment for this disease, thus masking the basic symptoms of neurasthenia.
