Children are particularly prone to sweating

Since children's bodies are much more fragile than adults, parents are extremely careful and worried when taking care of their children. Parents will worry too much if they find any abnormality in their children. However, some parents find that their children sweat easily even though they haven't done any strenuous exercise. This makes them wonder if the baby has some kind of disease. Is this a normal phenomenon?

Mothers, don’t be nervous. Babies sweating a lot is not because they are sick, but because of other reasons.

Physiological sweating

Infants and young children have an active metabolism and are active and some cannot get restful even in bed, so their heads tend to sweat after falling asleep.

The baby's brain nerves are not fully developed and are in a period of rapid development. The body's metabolism is vigorous, and it is necessary to evaporate the heat in the body through sweating to maintain a normal body temperature. Some babies only sweat on the head and forehead, commonly known as "steamer head". This is physiological sweating, and mothers do not need to worry too much.

Hot!

Yes, it’s hot!

The weather is hot in the summer, but some families insist on not turning on the air conditioner according to the traditional wrong idea. Even if it is very hot, they still put socks on the baby, cover the baby with a quilt after the baby falls asleep, etc.

Plus, due to the special physical condition of babies during infancy, it would be strange if they didn’t sweat a lot!

Is baby sweating due to calcium or zinc deficiency?

The answer is not necessarily!

Babies who are calcium deficient do have the characteristic of night sweats. They sweat a lot regardless of temperature, especially on their heads after falling asleep. After a long time, bald circles can be seen on the pillow. It may be related to calcium deficiency.

However, there are more easily diagnosed characteristics of calcium deficiency, such as night terrors, constant crying, irritable and dull personality, anorexia, and developmental delay.

Pay more attention to whether growth and development are lagging behind and whether the intake is sufficient.

The same is true for zinc deficiency. The most obvious symptom of zinc deficiency in babies is loss of appetite, which leads to delayed height and physical development, and the intelligence will also be more or less affected. Therefore, you cannot assume that the baby is zinc deficient when you see sweat on his head. Indiscriminate supplementation of trace elements leading to excessive intake will also have negative effects.

Sweating while sleeping

This situation is normal! This is related to the incomplete development of the baby's nervous system and is most common in the first few hours after the baby falls asleep. The situation where babies sweat a lot while sleeping will gradually improve as they grow older and develop more fully.

If the baby is simply sweating while sleeping and is not accompanied by any other symptoms, it is not a problem and mothers do not need to worry too much.

In summer, try to choose comfortable and breathable clothes for your baby. Do not cover your baby with too thick a quilt after he falls asleep, which may cause overheating.

If the baby's sweat soaks through his clothes, you can gently wipe his body with a sweat-absorbent towel and change him into dry clothes in time to prevent the evaporation of sweat from taking away heat and making him feel cold.

Sweating while breastfeeding

It is normal to sweat while breastfeeding.

The baby's body is so small that breastfeeding is very energy-consuming. This is the saying "all the strength is used up in breastfeeding." Exerting physical energy will certainly make you sweat easily, which is normal.

In addition, due to the thermal effect of food, the baby's body will produce a certain amount of heat while eating and after eating, so he will sweat naturally. Especially after eating high-protein foods such as breast milk and milk powder, sweating will be more obvious.
