What to do about tooth decay

What should we do about tooth decay? In today's life, more and more dental problems are troubling many people, among which tooth decay is the most common. Many children also have tooth decay, so the problem of tooth decay will be taken more and more seriously by people. If tooth decay occurs, it needs to be repaired and treated in time. If the treatment is not timely, it will worsen and even damage the pulp, which will be even more troublesome.

There are many reasons for tooth decay. Many friends love to eat sweets, especially children, who love sweets to an unimaginable extent, which contributes to the occurrence of tooth decay. In addition, if the hygiene of the cavity environment is not paid attention to, it can easily cause tooth decay. The food and saliva we eat on a daily basis can easily erode the teeth, and the reproduction of oral bacteria can also cause tooth decay to develop quickly, so we must protect our teeth in all aspects.

What is tooth decay

Tooth decay is sometimes also called tooth decay, and its scientific name is caries. The main cause of its formation is dental plaque. Plaque is an almost colorless film on the surface of teeth that contains bacteria that cause tooth decay. After each meal, these bacteria in dental plaque react chemically with the sugars or starches in the food to produce acids that corrode the teeth. Over time, the enamel of the teeth will be destroyed, forming small, fragile cavities. If the condition continues to worsen, it will form cavities, which is called tooth decay. So, tooth decay develops from small cavities. It is not that there are really worms or any other insects, but it is the result of gradual corrosion of the teeth. In severe cases, tooth decay can lead to tooth death and loss. Tooth decay is the decay of teeth.

How to diagnose tooth decay

1 First, ask whether there is food impaction and spontaneous pain in response to stimuli such as cold, hot, sour, and sweet.

2. Check the changes in the color, shape and quality of the tooth's hard tissues. Pay attention to the depth and type of caries in the adjacent neck or gum-covered areas. X-rays can be taken if necessary.

3 According to the degree of caries, it can be divided into:

1. Shallow caries: Caries are limited to the enamel or cementum, generally with no subjective symptoms and no reaction when probed.

2. Moderate caries: caries invades the shallow layer of dentin and may cause pain when stimulated by cold, hot, sour or sweet substances, as well as tenderness when probed.

3. Deep caries: Caries invades deep into the dentin but does not penetrate the pulp. Generally, there is pain upon stimulation and probing, but no spontaneous pain.

4 According to the type of caries lesions, they can be divided into:

1. Chronic caries: The disease course is long, and the carious tissue is hard, dry and darkly stained.

2. Acute caries: The course of the disease is short but the progression is rapid. The carious tissue is soft, moist and lightly stained. Within a very short period of time, most teeth or even all teeth in the mouth may develop acute caries. The carious surface is wide and progresses rapidly into the deep, often in a ring shape at the neck of the tooth. It is also called aggressive caries.

3. Static caries: The caries cavity is shallow and disc-shaped, and develops very slowly or statically. The cavity often exposes the hard, smooth and pigmented dentin layer.

4. Secondary caries: caries that occur at the edges of fillings or restorations

Treatment methods for tooth decay pain

1 When you have a toothache, you can cut a small piece of ginger and bite it on the painful area. You can reuse it when necessary, and it is also okay to hold it in your mouth when you sleep.

2. Crush 1 to 2 Liushen Pills and place them on the gums of the affected teeth for 5 to 10 minutes, once a day, usually not more than 3 times.

3. Apply honey to the area where the tooth hurts. It will be healed in a few minutes and will also leave your mouth with a fragrant smell.

4. Apply ice: Just like treating a bruise, applying ice to the cheek where the toothache is located can relieve pain. Apply for 15 minutes each time, at least 3 to 4 times a day.

5 Use a toothpick to pick up a little Yunnan Baiyao and add a drop of boiling water to make it into a paste. Then dip the toothpick in the Yunnan Baiyao paste and put it into the aching tooth. Generally, the pain will stop after 3 to 5 minutes.

Repair of different types of tooth decay

(1) Chalky discoloration of teeth is a sign of enamel caries.

(2) Food impaction is a sign of dental cavities or deep cavities.

(3) Sensitivity to cold, hot, sour, sweet and other food stimuli indicates that caries has reached the dentin layer.

(4) Toothache caused by impaction or irritation indicates that the caries is close to the pulp, which means that the bottom of the cavity is weak.

Among the above four manifestations of caries, if the first manifestation occurs, timely filling can control the development of caries and stop caries at the level of enamel caries. However, the first manifestation has no subjective symptoms and is not easy to detect by oneself. If the unit organization physical examination finds that the teeth have changed in color, they should be filled and treated as soon as possible. The second symptom is often the reason for seeking medical treatment, because impaction causes discomfort to the teeth. At this time, the pulp tissue is generally not affected, so it is more appropriate to perform caries filling. The third and fourth manifestations of caries are more serious. The pulp tissue may undergo structural changes due to stimulation. It is too late to perform caries fillings. The problem after filling is pulp discomfort.

We all know what to do about tooth decay. If you want to prevent tooth decay, you must pay attention to it in your daily life, especially oral hygiene. Children also need supervision from their parents and eat less sweets and foods with too much sugar to make our teeth healthier.
