Acute bronchitis is an inflammation of the bronchial mucosa caused by infection with pathogens such as viruses or bacteria. It is a common and frequently occurring disease in infants and young children. It often occurs following an upper respiratory tract infection and is often an early manifestation of pneumonia. The patient should rest until the body temperature returns to normal. Patients should be encouraged to drink fluids during fever. Antipyretics (eg, aspirin or acetaminophen for adults; acetaminophen for children) can relieve discomfort and reduce fever.

If accompanied by COPD, purulent sputum or persistent high fever and severe condition occurs, antibiotics should be used. For most adult patients, oral tetracycline or ampicillin is an effective first-line drug, and TMP-SMX is an alternative treatment. Children <8 years old should avoid using tetracycline and can be given amoxicillin instead. When symptoms persist or recur, or when the condition is unusually severe, sputum smear and culture should be done. Antibiotics are then selected based on the dominant pathogens and their drug sensitivity tests. If the pathogen is Mycoplasma pneumoniae or Chlamydia pneumoniae, erythromycin can be given.

During influenza A virus epidemics, treatment with rimantadine hydrochloride may be considered.

In fact, there are many treatments for acute bronchitis, and the above article generally introduces: drink more boiled water, take antipyretic and analgesic drugs, etc. Of course, in addition to these, we also know that there are many other treatments for acute bronchitis. Therefore, for our patients with acute bronchitis, they can adopt these methods to treat their acute bronchitis in the future.
