What is the principle of cupping?

As we all know, cupping is a treatment method in Traditional Chinese Medicine. It mainly involves piercing a few holes in the body with fire needles, and then using the vacuum to suck a glass tube onto the back or other parts of the body, so that there is pressure inside the cup. It can absorb the poisonous blood out of the body. So when we remove the cup, we will see some black blood. If the meridians in a certain area are blocked, there will be more black blood. But what is the principle of cupping?

According to traditional Chinese medicine theory, the therapeutic effects of cupping therapy are based on three aspects: adjusting yin and yang, unblocking meridians, and strengthening the body and eliminating evil. Modern research has revealed that cupping therapy works because of: 1. Negative pressure effect. When the human body is under negative pressure suction by cupping, the negative pressure increases the permeability of local capillaries, causing the capillaries to rupture and a small amount of blood to enter the tissue gap, thereby causing congestion, destroying red blood cells, releasing hemoglobin and causing autologous hemolysis. When responding to this phenomenon, the body produces a histamine-like substance that circulates throughout the body with body fluids, stimulating various organs and enhancing their self-defense capabilities.

Warming effect. Cupping has a warm stimulation effect on the local skin. Warm stimulation can dilate blood vessels, promote local blood circulation, enhance metabolism, and accelerate the excretion of waste and toxins in the body. 3. Regulatory effect. Through local benign stimulation, it acts on the peripheral receptors of the nervous system, regulates the nervous system, regulates microcirculation, strengthens the lymphatic circulation of the affected skin, activates the phagocytic ability of lymphocytes, and improves the body's disease resistance.

There are many methods of cupping, such as retention cupping, flash cupping, moving cupping, bloodletting cupping, medicine cupping, needle cupping, and cupping foaming. In clinical practice, they are selected according to the condition of the disease, and the most commonly used ones are the first four. The cupping method is the most basic method of cupping therapy, which involves keeping the cup on the skin for 5 to 15 minutes. This method is easy to operate and can be used in home health care. Other cupping methods have relatively high technical requirements and should be selected and used by doctors. The four main types of cans currently in use are glass, bamboo tube, ceramic and vacuum can.

Traditional Chinese medicine believes that a person's qi and blood are related to acupuncture points and the patency of meridians, so cupping can help to dredge meridians and activate blood circulation. Stagnant blood in the body can be cleared away by cupping, so it can play a role in health care. You can regularly undergo Chinese medicine therapy, which can effectively stimulate the acupoints.
