What to do if you always have migraine

Many people have experienced headaches, and there are many types of headaches. Migraine is just one type of headache. General migraines are normal for everyone, but if you always have migraines, you need to be vigilant and careful, because there are many reasons why a person often suffers from migraines, and disease is one of them. So, what should you do if you always have migraines?

For most people, when they have frequent migraines, they often panic and usually don’t know how to deal with it. In fact, for people who often suffer from migraines, it is best not to panic and go to the hospital for examination and treatment in time. So, let’s talk about what to do if you always have migraines.

Migraine is usually a throbbing headache that recurs in one or both temporal regions. It may be accompanied by visual and somatic auras before the attack and is often accompanied by vomiting during the attack. It is more common in females, about 3 to 4 times that of males. The disease usually begins in adolescence, with the age of onset being 25 to 34 years old. A few cases occur in childhood or after middle age.

Causes

1. Genetics

About 60% of migraine patients have a family history, and the risk of migraine among the patient's parents, children, and siblings (with the same parents) is 3 to 6 times that of the general population.

2. Endocrine and metabolic factors

It is more common in women, starting in adolescence, often occurring during menstruation, and decreasing or stopping during pregnancy or after menopause, suggesting endocrine and metabolic influences.

3. Diet and medication

Certain foods can trigger migraines, such as cheese containing tyramine, meat containing nitrite preservatives such as hot dogs or bacon, chocolate containing phenylethylamine, food additives such as monosodium glutamate (MSG), red wine, etc.

4. Mental factors

Fasting, emotional stress, and strong light can all trigger it.

Treatment of migraine:

Get as much rest as possible

If possible, find a quiet and dark room to lie down and take a nap, but avoid sleeping too much, so as not to have a headache after waking up. A nap may help relieve a headache, but it's best not to nap if you don't have a headache.

Cold and hot compresses

Some people like to apply cold compresses to the forehead and neck, which works for many people; others prefer hot compresses to the neck or take a hot bath. When a headache strikes you can cover your forehead with a hot or cold pack and massage the blood vessels in your temples to relieve the pain.

Take aspirin in moderation

For headaches that occur once or twice a month, aspirin or other common anti-inflammatory drugs can come in handy. But overuse of these drugs can cause more pain. At the same time, if you decide to use aspirin to treat headaches, you should take it immediately when the headache starts, otherwise it will not be effective.

Develop a sense of humor

If you often take things too seriously, you may often frown and be full of worries. It's no wonder that you often suffer from headaches. We should learn to relax ourselves and take things around us lightly.

Say no to chocolate

Not only does eating chocolate make you fat, it also contains tyramine, a major suspect in causing headaches. Fortunately, many young people have developed a tolerance to this chemical reaction. In addition, drupes and aged cheese also contain tyramine and should be avoided.

To sum up, there are many ways to deal with or treat frequent migraines, and there are also many causes of frequent migraines. Therefore, for people who always have migraines, it is best to find out the cause of their migraines before treatment and then carry out symptomatic treatment. Only in this way can you restore your health as soon as possible.
