Where to press for toothache

The saying that toothache medicine can kill people is not an exaggeration at all. People who have experienced toothache should have a deep understanding of this. There are many reasons that cause toothache, including irritation, inflammation, and dental disease. Many times toothaches occur suddenly, often catching people off guard. In this case, acupoint massage can be used to relieve the pain, which has a certain effect. So, where should you press when you have a toothache? Let’s take a closer look below.

1. Massage the acupuncture points on the hands to relieve toothache

When we have a toothache, we can massage the four reflex areas on our hands to quickly relieve the toothache. The first is the oral reflex zone at the base of the thumb. The second one is the base of the index finger nail. The third and fourth are two points located on both sides of the base of the middle finger.

Massage method:

1. Open the base of your left hand, press the center of the base of your right hand (Hegu point) with your right thumb and index finger, and then stimulate the point with appropriate force. Then switch to the other hand.

2. Press the nail of your index finger with the tip of your thumb.

3. Use the tip of your thumb to press on both sides of the base of the middle finger.

2. Press Yingxiang acupoint for upper toothache

If you have toothache in your upper teeth, you should press the "Yingxiang" acupoint. The "Yingxiang" acupoints are located about 1 cm away from the nose wing. Pressing them with your hand will cause pain. This acupoint is not only effective in preventing upper toothache, but also in relieving nasal congestion. In addition, you can also massage the Ren Zhong, Xia Guan, Zu San Li, and Neiting points for upper toothache.

3. Press Quchi acupoint for lower toothache

If you have toothache in your lower teeth, cross your left and right fingers, and extend the middle finger of the hand with the thumb on top toward the radius, looking for the painful spot when pressed. In addition, you can also massage the Shousanli and Quchi points for lower toothache.

When pressing these acupoints, you should press for 10 seconds while exhaling. Repeat this 20 times and the pain in the upper and lower teeth will be relieved immediately. For the acupressure method for treating toothache in the lower teeth, the thumb placed on the upper part can be switched between the left and right.

4. Xiaguan Point
