At present, the cause of hypertension is still not very clear. The main symptoms are dizziness, headache, insomnia, dreaminess, and continuously high blood pressure. It can be treated with Western medicine or traditional Chinese medicine. So, what is the method of TCM to treat hypertension?

Liver fire inflammatory type:

This type of hypertension mainly presents with high blood pressure, accompanied by dizziness, chest and flank distension and pain, insomnia, irritability, red tongue with thin yellow coating, and thin and stringy pulse.

The treatment principle should be clearing heat and purging liver fire. The main prescription is Danzhi Xiaoyao Powder with modifications: 10 grams each of moutan bark, gardenia, bupleurum, mint, angelica, poria, atractylodes, white peony root, selfheal, Uncaria rhynchophylla, and cassia seed, and 5 grams of licorice. decocted in water and taken once a day.

You can also use Chinese patent medicine:

① Take 1 bag of compound Lophatherum granola orally each time, 3 times a day;

②Danzhi Xiaoyao Pills, 9 grams each time, twice a day;

③ Take 1 bottle of Longdan Xiegan oral liquid orally, twice a day;

④ Take 10 ml of Prunella Vulgaris paste orally, twice a day;

⑤ Take 1 bottle of Xinnaojing oral liquid each time, 3 times a day;

⑥ Shanhuajing Granules, take 10 grams orally each time, 3 times a day.

Hyperactivity of Liver Yang Type:

This type of hypertension mainly presents with high blood pressure, accompanied by dizziness, tinnitus, headache, sometimes aggravated headache, flushed face, irritability, insomnia, bitter taste in the mouth, red tongue, yellow coating, and thin and stringy pulse.

The main treatment principles for this disease are to calm the liver and suppress yang, clear away heat and stop wind. The main prescription is Tianma Gou Teng Yin with modifications: 10 grams each of Tianma, Uncaria, Gardenia, Achyranthes, Eucommia, Scutellaria, Leonurus, Morus, Polygonum multiflorum, Prunella Vulgaris, and Bamboo Shavings, and 30 grams of Lithospermum officinale (fried first). Decoction with water, one dose per day.

You can also use Chinese patent medicine:

① Niuhuang Jiangya Pills (tablets), take 1 pill orally each time, 3 times a day;

②Tian Ma Gou Teng Granules, 10g orally each time, 3 times a day;

③Naoliqing tablets (capsules), 5 tablets each time, twice a day;

④ Niuhuang Shangqing Pills, take 1 pill orally each time, twice a day;

⑤ Take 3 tablets of Compound Antelope Horn Antihypertensive Tablets orally each time, 3 times a day;

⑥Tianmu Antihypertensive Tablets, take 3 tablets orally each time, 3 times a day.

Qi and blood deficiency type:

This type of hypertension mainly presents with high blood pressure accompanied by dizziness, which worsens with movement and occurs as soon as tired. Patients often have pale complexion, dull lips and nails, palpitations and insomnia, fatigue and laziness, reduced appetite, pale tongue, and a thready and weak pulse.

The treatment principle of this disease is to nourish qi and blood and strengthen the spleen and stomach. The commonly used prescription is Bazhen Decoction with modifications: 10 grams each of Angelica sinensis, Chuanxiong, White Peony Root, Rehmannia Glutinosa, Codonopsis pilosula, Poria cocos, Atractylodes macrocephala, Roasted Licorice, donkey-hide gelatin (decoction separately), Achyranthes bidentata, Astragalus membranaceus, and Ganoderma lucidum, decocted in water and taken once a day.

You can also use Chinese patent medicine:

①Guipi Pills, 9 grams each time, 3 times a day;

② Buzhong Yiqi Pills (or mixture, oral liquid), 10 grams each time, twice a day;

③ Take 1 bottle of Huangqijing oral liquid orally each time, 3 times a day;

④ Ginseng Jianpi Pills, take 10 grams orally each time, 3 times a day.

Kidney essence deficiency type:

This type of hypertension mainly presents with high blood pressure, accompanied by dizziness, fatigue, forgetfulness, soreness of waist and knees, nocturnal emission and tinnitus. Among them, those who are more prone to Yin deficiency will have symptoms of heat in the five hearts, red tongue, and thin and stringy pulse; those who are more prone to Yang deficiency will have cold limbs, pale tongue, and deep and thin pulse.

For those who are suffering from yin deficiency, the treatment principle should be to tonify the kidney and nourish yin. The commonly used prescription is Qiju Dihuang Decoction with modifications: 10 grams each of wolfberry, chrysanthemum, cooked rehmannia, yam, jujube peel, poria, Alisma orientalis, moutan bark, bamboo leaf, Houttuynia cordata, Cassia seed, and Prunella vulgaris, decocted in water and taken one dose per day.

You can also use Chinese patent medicine:

① Qiju Dihuang Pills (or oral liquid, granules, tablets), 10 grams each time, 3 times a day;

② Take Zuogui Pills orally, 1 pill each time, 3 times a day;

③ Dabuyin Pills, take 1 pill orally each time, 3 times a day;

④Fufang Shouwu Dihuang Pills, 9 grams each time, 3 times a day;

⑤ Eucommia antihypertensive tablets, take 4 tablets orally each time, 3 times a day.

Phlegm and turbidity blocking the middle part of the body:

Patients with this type of hypertension mainly experience high blood pressure, accompanied by dizziness, heavy head, chest tightness, nausea, poor appetite, excessive sleep, white and greasy tongue coating, and slippery pulse.

The treatment principle should be to dry dampness and eliminate phlegm, strengthen the spleen and harmonize the stomach. The optional prescription is Pingwei San with modifications: 10 grams each of tangerine peel, Magnolia bark, licorice, Atractylodes, Atractylodes, Poria, jujube, Pinellia, Acorus calamus, Alisma orientalis, 5 grams each of cardamom, white cardamom, and Amomum villosum (added later). Decoction in water, one dose per day.

You can also use Chinese patent medicine:

② Take 1 bottle of Dan Chenpi oral liquid (or tablets or capsules) orally each time, twice a day;

②Gastrodia elata tablets, take 5 tablets orally each time, 3 times a day.

In addition to the above-mentioned treatment methods, patients can also adopt the method of traditional Chinese medicine acupuncture, and the treatment effect is also relatively good. When patients have nothing to do, they can go out and learn Qigong, because people with high blood pressure are particularly suitable for learning Qigong and Tai Chi, which have special benefits for the treatment of the disease. If you practice on the same day, your blood pressure can be lowered on the same day.
