What is the difference between Cordyceps and Cordyceps sinensis

What is the difference between Cordyceps and Cordyceps sinensis

For us, Cordyceps sinensis should be familiar to us. This thing has become a very famous and precious Chinese medicinal material. Now more and more people have begun to use it to nourish the body, and its efficacy cannot be underestimated. In addition, because its resources are relatively scarce, it has the reputation of being the best grass in the world. But many people don’t understand the difference between Cordyceps and Cordyceps sinensis. Let’s take a look.

The reason why Cordyceps sinensis has become a traditional precious Chinese medicinal material is that it has remarkable effects and its resources are scarce, so it has the reputation of "the best grass in the world". Because of this, some vendors started to have crooked ideas. The price of Cordyceps sinensis is being hyped up and even falsified.

Recently, a yellow ingredient can be seen in home-cooked meals or delicious dishes in restaurants. It is the most popular ingredient in recent years - Cordyceps flower. Cordyceps flowers are popular among Guangzhou citizens of all ages, and cordyceps flower soup and cordyceps steamed pork ribs are indispensable on the dining table. Many supermarkets and Chinese herbal medicine stores also display Cordyceps flowers in prominent locations.

In winter, the fungus begins to develop on the body, but the appearance remains intact. The following summer, the fungus grows from the front of the larvae's bodies and looks very much like grass. Therefore, people call the complex of the larval corpse and the fungal fruiting body Cordyceps sinensis.

Cordyceps sinensis is only produced in areas with an altitude of more than 2,600 meters and less than 5,200 meters, so the production areas are limited to Tibet, Qinghai, Gansu, Yunnan, Guizhou and Sichuan in my country.

Therefore, we must distinguish the difference between Cordyceps and Cordyceps sinensis. There are more than 200 known species of Cordyceps in the world, but the only Cordyceps sinensis with medicinal value is only produced in the area mentioned above. Therefore, consumers must analyze and identify what is real Cordyceps sinensis. Even if it is produced in Tibet, it is not necessarily real Cordyceps sinensis. We must keep our eyes open and not be deceived by some fake Cordyceps.

Although Cordyceps sinensis is very effective, many families have begun to stockpile it in large quantities. This is actually not a good idea, because Cordyceps sinensis cannot be kept for too long. The fresher the medicinal material, the higher its quality. If it is kept for too long, the ingredients will be lost.
