Paranoid psychosis

Paranoid psychosis

Paranoid psychosis is a common mental illness. Once the patient develops the disease, he or she will have mental abnormalities, which can be said to be very dangerous. Therefore, for patients with paranoid psychosis, active treatment should be carried out in the early stages of the disease. Specific treatment methods include: cognitive improvement, friendship training, self-therapy and hostility correction training. The following is a detailed introduction to the treatment of paranoid psychosis.

1. Cognitive Enhancement

Since patients do not trust others, are sensitive and suspicious, and will not accept any well-intentioned advice, we must first establish a trusting relationship with them, communicate emotions on the basis of mutual trust, and fully introduce to them the nature, characteristics, harmfulness and correction methods of their own personality disorders, so that they can have a correct and objective understanding of themselves, and consciously and voluntarily develop the desire to change their own personality defects. This is a prerequisite for further psychotherapy.

2. Friendship Training

Encourage patients to actively engage in friendships, learn to trust others and eliminate feelings of insecurity. The principles and essentials of friendship training are:

(1) Be sincere and open-hearted. One must be sincere and open-hearted in making friends. We should believe that most people are friendly, good and trustworthy. We should not be prejudiced or distrustful towards friends, especially close friends. It must be clear that the purpose of making friends is to overcome paranoia, seek friendship and help, exchange thoughts and feelings, and eliminate psychological barriers.

(2) Try to be proactive in providing all kinds of help to your close friends during interactions. This helps to exchange hearts, gain the other person’s trust and consolidate friendship. Especially when others are in trouble, we should give them all we can to help. True friendship comes from times of adversity. Only in this way can we gain the trust of our friends and strengthen our friendship.

(3) Pay attention to the principle of "psychological compatibility" in making friends. Similarities and consistency in personality and temperament contribute to psychological compatibility and building good friendships. In addition, there are also "psychological compatibility" issues such as gender, age, occupation, cultural background, economic level, social status, and interests and hobbies. However, the most basic condition for psychological compatibility is the similarity and consistency of ideology, outlook on life and values, the so-called "like-minded". This is the psychological basis for developing cooperation and consolidating friendship.

3. Self-therapy

People with paranoid personality like to go to extremes, which is related to the irrational ideas in their minds. Therefore, to change paranoid behavior, patients with paranoid personality must first analyze their own irrational ideas. Whenever you relapse into your old habits, you should silently repeat the reformed rationalization ideas to stop your extreme behavior.

4. Hostility Correction Training

Patients are prone to hostility and distrust towards others and the surrounding environment. The following training methods can help overcome the hostile and confrontational mentality.

(1) Always remind yourself not to get caught in the vortex of hostility. Give yourself reminders and warnings in advance, and pay attention to corrections when dealing with others. This will significantly reduce hostility and strong emotional reactions.

(2) You must understand that only by respecting others can you gain the respect of others. You should learn to say thank you to those who have helped you, instead of just saying "thank you" perfunctorily or ignoring them.

(3) Learn to smile at everyone you know. You may not be used to it and it may not be natural at the beginning, but you have to do it and try your best to do it well.

(4) Learn to be tolerant and patient in life.
