Have you used the four health-preserving magic tools around you?

Traditional Chinese medicine massage can effectively relieve physical discomfort, but not everyone can master the massage techniques. Today I recommend four small items that are commonly used around us, which can be used to assist massage and easily achieve the purpose of health preservation and disease prevention. How to do it specifically? Let’s listen to the editor’s introduction.

Artifact 1: Comb

The comb used for combing your hair can be used in many ways, and generally a horn comb with round teeth is preferred.

Comb your neck to prevent colds. In the early stages of a cold, you will usually feel soreness, tightness and pain in the neck and back. There is a Dazhui point behind the neck (the depression below the highest raised bone on the back of the neck when you lower your head), which is the place where Yang energy is strongest. Combing this point can dispel wind and cold, clear away heat and detoxify, and relieve early-stage colds. Generally, it takes 5 to 10 minutes each time, until you feel warmth in the back of your neck.

Comb the breasts to disperse blood stasis. There are many meridians and acupoints around the breasts. If the liver qi is stagnant or the qi is stagnant and the blood is stagnant, one is prone to diseases such as breast hyperplasia and nodules. Using a comb to apply local stimulation can dredge the meridians, promote blood circulation and remove blood stasis, soften and disperse nodules, and relieve chest discomfort. The specific method is: apply a little lotion on the breast, then hold the comb (preferably a jade comb) at a 45-degree angle to the chest, and slowly comb from the base of the breast to the nipple, with gentle force, until you feel comfortable, 5 to 10 minutes each time; if there are nodules or lumps, use the back of the comb to massage the area. Before combing your hair, you can also take 20 grams of red peony root, 30 grams of selfheal, and 30 grams of dandelion, decoct them in water, and use a towel dipped in the juice for hot compress to enhance the effects of promoting blood circulation, removing blood stasis, clearing away heat and dispersing nodules.

Comb the abdomen and regulate the stomach and intestines. There are many soft organs in the abdominal cavity. It is recommended to use the back of a comb to comb around the navel in a clockwise circle. This can promote gastrointestinal motility and help excretion. People with diarrhea can use the corner of a comb to press and rub the Zhongwan point (four inches above the navel) and the Tianshu point (two inches away from the navel, one on each side) to regulate gastrointestinal function.

Artifact 2: Hair dryer

Traditional Chinese medicine says "treat the cold with heat". If you feel cold or pain in any part of your body, you can use a hair dryer to blow it away and use the hot air to relieve the pain. Hair dryers are most commonly used to relieve discomfort such as stiff neck, cold shoulders, and dysmenorrhea. It is recommended to test the temperature with your hand before blowing, and blow on the uncomfortable area for 5 to 10 minutes. People who suffer from dysmenorrhea can also cut a piece of ginger and place it at the navel, and then blow it with a hair dryer, which can warm the middle and dispel the cold.

Artifact 3: Rolling Pin

A rolling pin can be used to roll muscular parts of the body, such as the legs, shoulders and neck. It is similar to the "rolling method" in traditional Chinese medicine massage. Applying local pressure and rolling repeatedly can relieve local numbness and pain.

Tap the popliteal fossa to strengthen the waist and back. There is an old saying in Traditional Chinese Medicine that goes "For waist and back problems, seek the Weizhong point". Any problems with the waist and back can be relieved by tapping the Weizhong point (located in the popliteal fossa). The specific method is: sit upright on a chair, bend your knees slightly, and use a rolling pin to gently tap the knee pit horizontally from the back, each time for about 10 minutes.

Rolling springs prolong life. This method should have used a medicine grinder from traditional Chinese medicine, but medicine grinders are rare nowadays, so a rolling pin can be used instead. Put it on the floor, step on it with a little force and roll it back and forth, imitating the movements of an old pharmacist grinding medicine. This can effectively stimulate the Yongquan point on the sole of the foot, playing a role in strengthening the kidneys and prolonging life. People with heel pain can also roll their heels to stimulate the local pain threshold, raise the pain threshold, and relieve pain.

Artifact 4: Spoon

The spoon is generally a stainless steel spoon with a long handle and a round and smooth body. The handle is used for acupoint pressing and the body of the spoon is used for scraping.

Apply around the eyes to improve eyesight. When you feel tired, you can use the handle of a spoon to rub the Jingming point (inner corner of the eye), Zanzhu point (brow), Yuyao point (middle of the eyebrows), temple (outer corner of the eye), and Sibai point (under the eyes) around the eyes one by one, for 1 to 2 minutes on each point. This has the effect of relieving fatigue and improving eyesight.

Scraping the back can relieve heat. You can use a spoon instead of a scraping board to do scraping at home. People with internal heat can first apply a little scraping oil on the back, and then use the spoon to gently scrape the back.
