Urine white blood cell count is high

The things we do every day are inseparable from eating, drinking, defecating and urinating. In the popular sense, defecating and urinating mean that the human body excretes unnecessary things, and urine is such a human excretion. As we all know, urine is mostly water, of course, it also contains a small amount of inorganic salts and substances such as uric acid and urea. The health problems of the human body can also be checked from the urine excreted. The urine leukocyte quantification we are going to talk about today is one of the examination items. Let’s talk about the reasons why the urine leukocyte quantification is high.

Normal people's urine contains a small amount of white blood cells. Generally speaking, the number of white blood cells in microscopic examination of sedimented urine will be less than 1 per high-power field of view. When the number of white blood cells in microscopic examination of clean midstream urine sediment is greater than 5/high-power field of view, leukocyturia can be diagnosed.

Leukocyturias can be seen in urinary system diseases, prostate diseases, seminal vesicle diseases, and diseases of tissues and organs adjacent to the urinary system, such as gynecological inflammation. The causes may include infection, conjugation, stones, foreign bodies, tumors, glomerulonephritis, tubulointerstitial diseases, etc. Therefore, clinically, leukocyturia should be analyzed in depth and should not be simply considered as a urinary tract infection. For patients with unexplained leukocyturinia, quantitative bacterial culture should be performed. If the culture is negative for multiple times, attention should be paid to whether it is urinary tract tuberculosis or fungal infection. The diagnosis is as follows:

1. The presence of white blood cell casts in urine can help diagnose pyelonephritis.

2. In the absence of culture results for acute urinary tract infection, a preliminary diagnosis can be made based on pyuria.

3. If the patient has frequent and urgent urination, the urine stays in the bladder for a short time, and the urine bacterial quantitative culture will be negative. At this time, pyuria can assist in diagnosis.

4. If the bacterial culture of a urinary tract infection is negative after treatment with antibiotics, but pyuria still exists within a few days, the pyuria is positive at this time, indicating that it is still a urinary tract infection.
