Qi and blood deficiency syndrome Symptoms: dizziness, palpitations, insomnia, fatigue, shortness of breath, laziness to speak, numbness of limbs or twitching pupils, pale or sallow complexion, pale lips and nails, pale tongue, scanty coating, and weak pulse. Treatment method: Nourish Qi and blood. Main recipe: Bazhen Decoction (ginseng, Atractylodes macrocephala, Poria cocos, licorice, Angelica sinensis, white peony root, Rehmannia glutinosa, and Ligusticum chuanxiong). Add or subtract: Astragalus, placenta, and donkey-hide gelatin can be added; if there is bleeding, add palm charcoal. 3. Heart and liver blood deficiency syndrome Symptoms: palpitations, dizziness, dull complexion, numbness of limbs, or frequent dreams and forgetfulness, scanty and light-colored menstruation or even amenorrhea in women, pale tongue, and weak pulse. Treatment method: Nourish the heart, liver, qi and blood. Main prescription: Siwu Decoction (Danggui, Rehmannia, White Peony Root, Chuanxiong), or Guipi Decoction (Codonopsis, Astragalus, Atractylodes, Angelica, Poria, Longan, Ziziphus jujuba, Costusroot, roasted Licorice, Polygala, Ginger, and Jujube). Additions and subtractions: Papaya, mulberry, and donkey-hide gelatin can be added. 4. Liver and Kidney Yin Deficiency Symptoms: dizziness, tinnitus, forgetfulness, dry mouth and throat, numbness or paralysis of limbs, fever in the five parts of the body, red tongue with little coating, and weak and rapid pulse. Treatment method: Nourish the liver and kidneys. Main recipe: Yi Guan Jian (Adenophora, Ophiopogon, Angelica, Rehmannia, Lycium barbarum, and Toosendan fruit). Add or subtract: For fatigue and shortness of breath, add Codonopsis pilosula and Astragalus membranaceus; for dizziness and limb numbness, add Placenta and donkey-hide gelatin; for fever in the five parts of the body, add Cortex Moutan, Anemarrhena asphodeloides and Carapax tricolor. |
