Many people often have the habit of eating corn in their daily lives, and coix seed itself is a kind of Chinese patent medicine, which can not only help us nourish the body, but also repair the body and replenish various elements. It can be used to make porridge and also to regulate physical fitness. However, the anti-tumor effect of coix seed is not good. Anti-tumor can be achieved through these methods. Anti-tumor effect 1.1. Intraperitoneal injection of ethanol extract of coix seed into tumor-bearing mice can inhibit the proliferation of Ehrlich ascites carcinoma (ECA) cells and significantly prolong the survival time of the animals. Two components were further separated from the extract, one of which can cause protoplasmic degeneration of cancer cells, and the other component can stop the division phase of the cell nucleus at the middle phase. 1.2. The acetone extract of coix seed can also inhibit the growth of ECA when injected intraperitoneally into mice. This anti-tumor activity can be transferred to the acidic part soluble in petroleum ether. If it is injected subcutaneously, the ascites will become transparent and the tumor cells will almost disappear. However, the toxicity of this part is also correspondingly higher. Coix seed acetone extract also has a significant inhibitory effect on cervical cancer 14 (U14) and ascites-type hepatocellular carcinoma (HCA) solid tumors. 1.3. The clinical application of decoctions made with coix seed has been observed to prolong the life of patients with advanced cancer. It was also found that after intraperitoneal injection of coix seed acetone extract into cancer patients, ascites examination showed that the protoplasm of cancer cells underwent significant degeneration. It was also found that a 50% ethanol extract of coix seed can promote keratinization of cultured squamous cell carcinoma cells. Immune effects 2.1. The neutral polysaccharide glucan mixture and acidic polysaccharide Ⅱa-1, 2, 3, Ⅱb parts obtained from the hot water extract of coix seed all showed anti-complement activity. 2.2. The neutral polysaccharide dextran mixture is highly heterogeneous and can be separated into seven dextran types by HPLC. They are 1→4-linked aD-dextrans containing glucosyl side chains at positions 0-6 of the main chain. Each purified dextran has a different maximum absorption (530nm or >550nm) in the iodine reaction. >500nm-dextran is more effective than 530nm-dextran and is believed to have considerable anti-complement activity. 2.3. Acidic polysaccharides II a-1, 2, 3, and II b were further separated and purified to obtain anti-complement polysaccharides CA-1 and CA-2, which contained 8-11% protein in the molecules and had molecular weights of 160,000 and 70,000, respectively. At low doses, CA-2 exhibits stronger anticomplement activity than CA-1. |
