The efficacy and function of puffin

By searching for pictures of puffins, we can see that puffins are very cute, their beaks look a bit like ducks, their colors are mainly black and white, and the combination of black and white is particularly similar to that of penguins. But in terms of size, puffins are slightly smaller than penguins. There are more than ten species of sea finches in the world, and our country accounts for about a quarter of them. So what are the effects and functions of puffins?

Efficacy and effects: phlegm, cough, dry fire, heat and toxicity. It is most suitable for people with swollen lymph nodes. In recent years, it is rumored to have the ability to fight cancer.

Auk is a general name for birds of the Guillemot family in the order Guillemot. Puffins are closely related to puffins and guillemots, and there are 13 genera and 21 species worldwide. It is a typical seabird with black and white feathers. There are three species in China: The Flat-billed Auklet breeds on islands near Qingdao and Lianyungang, China. The horn-billed auk is about 350 mm long; its beak is thick and laterally flattened, with horn-like objects at the base; a tuft of long white feathers grows above the eyes and at the base of the beak. The pied auk is similar in size to the flat-billed auk and the horned auk.

There are webbed membranes between the front toes of puffins, but the hind toes are absent. The wings are narrow and short, and the tail is short. The body feathers are black and white, and the male and female feathers are similar. Its body shape and habits are similar to those of a penguin (but it can fly), which is the result of convergent evolution.

Puffins live in Arctic regions, with some species spending the winter in temperate regions. Puffins are good at swimming and diving, and can generally dive more than 10 meters underwater. Feeds on fish, crustaceans and other marine invertebrates.

Puffins usually live on the ocean and only come to coastal islands or land during the breeding season. When it comes ashore, it stands roughly upright, like a penguin. Good at swimming and diving, and can generally dive more than 10 meters underwater. Feeds on fish, crustaceans and other marine invertebrates.

It breeds in the coastal areas of the Pacific and northern Atlantic oceans and migrates south to the Mediterranean, California, USA, and Taiwan Province of China during the winter.

Geographical distribution:

It breeds in the coastal areas of the Pacific and northern Atlantic oceans and migrates south to the Mediterranean, California, USA, and Taiwan Province of China during the winter. Puffins breed in colonies, with both sexes sitting on nests and raising chicks. Each nest contains one egg, which is pear-shaped, white, blue-gray, or green, and some have cinnamon-red spots. The incubation period is 30 to 36 days.

There are three species in China: the flat-billed auk, the horned auk and the spotted auk.

The main reason for the great auk's extinction was human slaughter. Records of the killing of the great auk date back to the Paleolithic period in Scandinavia and eastern North America, and to the 5th century AD in Labrador, Canada. In addition, a piece of clothing made from the fur of 200 great auks was found among the burial objects in a tomb on the island of Newfoundland dating back to 2000 BC. Nevertheless, before the 8th century AD, human slaughter of the great auk did not pose a significant threat to the survival of the species as a whole.
