How to treat retinitis pigmentosa effectively

How to treat retinitis pigmentosa effectively

Retinitis pigmentosa is a relatively serious eye disease that may cause blindness in patients. If you suffer from this disease, you can choose professional medical sunshade glasses. At the same time, patients should also pay attention to relaxing and supplementing lutein.

1 Western medicine treatment

In China, Western medicine has no effective treatment for this disease. Some people believe that small doses of vitamin A and vitamin E may be helpful for this disease, but the dosage should not be too large. Since there is no special treatment, it has become one of the key research problems in ophthalmology worldwide. Currently, there are many ophthalmologists around the world conducting research, but they are still only in the trial stage and no cure has been found that can be applied clinically. Many domestic hospital advertisements claim that surgical treatment is possible, but these are generally not credible.

2. Optional professional medical sunshade glasses

At present, medical science has proven that harmful short-wave blue light from sunlight and electronic display devices has a strong stimulating effect on patients with retinitis pigmentosa, which manifests as "fear of light". Strong light can accelerate the degeneration of the outer segments of photoreceptors, so they must wear sunshade glasses.

In developed countries such as Europe, America, Japan and South Korea, one of the necessary clinical measures is to wear shading glasses. In developed Western countries, medical shading glasses usually meet the following four conditions:

1. The higher the UV and blue light blocking ability of the sun-blocking glasses, the better. They should block the harmful UV and blue light from stimulating the retinal cells as much as possible.

2. The harmful light blocking index of sun-blocking glasses must be certified by a national authoritative organization to ensure its effectiveness.

3. Achieve 360-degree all-round isolation. This is important because no matter how high the blocking index of the lens is, there will still be a large proportion of light entering the eye from other angles, so achieving 360-degree protection is one of the important indicators. As a patient, all-round blocking frames may not be as varied and beautiful as ordinary frames, but from the perspective of the disease, 360-degree protection can achieve true isolation.

Foreign medical research has shown that 65% of light enters the eye from the front, and 35% of light enters the eye from other angles. The lens can only protect the light that enters from the front. Ultraviolet rays and blue light that enter from other angles will still enter the fundus. Therefore, one of the important indicators of sunshade glasses for medical purposes is to achieve 360-degree all-round protection and effectively block harmful light that is irradiated from the sides and refracted into the glasses.

4. In Europe, America, Japan and South Korea, sunshade glasses are mostly worn in ophthalmology hospitals. Therefore, they must meet higher and stricter standards to meet professional medical needs and enter hospital clinics. This is also one of the reference indicators for determining whether sunshade glasses meet professional medical needs.

3. Supplement Lutein

Lutein is a substance that is widely distributed in the normal human retina and has a retinal protective effect. It is an important component of retinal tissue. Lutein has excellent antioxidant and anti-light damage capabilities and a nutritional effect on photoreceptor cells. It can prevent oxygen free radicals and harmful light from damaging retinal photoreceptor cells and pigment epithelial cells, and increase the activity of photoreceptor cells. The human body cannot synthesize lutein on its own and it mainly comes from external intake. Once it is deficient, various retinal diseases will occur. Almost all retinal diseases are related to lutein deficiency.

4. Avoid excessive mental and physical tension, keep your body and mind relaxed, and relieve stress

Avoid excessive mental and physical tension. When you are overly nervous, the catecholamines in your body fluids increase, causing the choroidal blood vessels to contract and be in a state of hypoxia, which intensifies the degeneration of photoreceptor cells. my country's traditional Qigong (static Qigong) can speed up the activities of the cerebral cortex and various organs of the body with one's own will. If it is practiced persistently, it may be helpful in preventing the rapid deterioration of the visual function of this disease. This still needs further scientific demonstration.
