What causes acid reflux at night?

Irregular diet and other situations can cause stomach discomfort, especially you should pay attention to your diet at night. There is a saying that makes sense, "Eat a full breakfast, eat well at noon, and eat less at night." The reason why people eat less at night is that usually the food eaten during the day can be quickly digested and absorbed through exercise, and will not cause indigestion and discomfort. However, at night we basically eat breakfast and do not do any exercise, so eating too much will cause stomach discomfort or acid reflux.

The main reasons for increased gastric acid secretion are as follows:

1. Physical factors related to genetics.

2. The gastric mucosal wall cells are stimulated and excited for a long time, such as: ① The parasympathetic nerves are excited for a long time and continue to produce acetylcholine. ② The secretion of gastrin by gastrin cells (G cells) is too high, such as the slow response of G cells to the inhibitory effect of H+ (hydrogen ions); the increase of gastrin caused by the contact of the gastric antral mucosa with protein decomposition products and the expansion of the gastric antrum.

3. The reactivity of parietal cells increases or the total number increases. Even if the total number of parietal cells is normal, the mucosa may be damaged by high gastric acid secretion. 4. When the function of the duodenal mucosa to release certain hormones is impaired, it may also lead to increased secretion of gastric acid and gastrin. It can be seen that the overall increase in gastric mucosal parietal cells and neuroendocrine dysfunction are the main factors causing increased gastric acid secretion and are also the basis for the formation of duodenal ulcers.

5. Hyperacidity refers to excessive secretion of gastric juice and a high concentration of gastric acid in the gastric juice. It may be caused by emotions or nervous tension.

6. You may also suffer from diseases such as peptic ulcer, cholecystitis, etc.

7. The main symptoms of excessive gastric acid are indigestion, hiccups, and heartburn in the chest. Even acidic gastric juices can appear when you burp.

8. People with excessive stomach acid should pay attention to inhibiting stomach acid secretion in daily life and avoid overeating and irritating foods. In addition to quitting smoking and drinking or drinking in moderation, it is also important to eliminate excessive stress.
