Classification of viruses

Classification of viruses

As we all know, many diseases are caused by viruses, and viruses are updated very quickly. Therefore, antiviral drugs are also constantly updated. If you want to stay away from viruses, you must pay attention to hygiene, diet, and exercise in your life to improve your own resistance, so that the virus will not easily invade you. There are many types of viruses, but many people only know that there are viruses but do not understand the specific classifications of viruses.

Viruses reproduce very quickly and are highly contagious. Once the virus reaches its peak, it will cause outbreaks in large numbers and is difficult to prevent. In daily life, common viruses include influenza viruses, etc. Everyone is familiar with this. In fact, viruses not only exist in humans, but also between animals and plants.

1. By infected object

Animal viruses, plant viruses, bacterial viruses, insect viruses and fungal viruses, as well as viroids, virusoids and prions.

2. Classification by genetic material

There are two major categories of DNA viruses and RNA viruses. The main classification criteria are whether their genetic material is single strand or double strand, the molecular weight of the nucleic acid, and whether the RNA is sense or antisense RNA.

3. Classification by genetic structure

DNA viruses

l Adenoviridae

l Herpesviridae EBV Herpes zoster virus

l Iridoviridae

l Papovaviruses

l Parvoviridae

l Poxviridae Smallpox virus Cowpox virus

l Viral Hepatitis Hepatitis B virus

RNA viruses

l Coronaviridae Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Virus

l Bornaviridae

l Filoviridae *Ebola virus

l Orthomyxoviridae * influenza virus * avian influenza virus

l Paramyxoviridae Mumps virus Measles virus Human respiratory syncytial virus

l Picornaviruses Rhinoviruses Enteroviruses

l Retroviridae * HIV

l Reoviridae

l Rhabdoviridae Rabies Virus

Bacteriophage

Bacteriophage, abbreviated as phage, is a general term for viruses that parasitize bacteria.

The above introduces the classification of viruses from many aspects, and I hope it can help you better understand viruses. Viruses have no cellular structure and therefore must be present in living cells to reproduce. The protein outer layer of the virus stores genetic information. Viruses are everywhere, and only by paying attention can we avoid infection. Once a viral infection is discovered, treatment must be sought promptly to avoid delaying the disease, which may lead to serious illness.
