I have stomach pain on the right side when I run

Nowadays, many people like to run, but sometimes they find that their stomach hurts a lot when they are running, sometimes on the left side of the abdomen, sometimes on the right side of the abdomen. The cause of this disease is actually very simple. Most people experience this condition because they run too fast and do not take into account regulating their breathing, which forms a corresponding rhythm with their running. So it is easy to have this kind of situation in the morning.

(1) Visceral gravity pulling effect:

When the body exercises vigorously, the mobility of the internal organs in the abdomen also increases, which will inevitably pull the mesentery (especially the gastrointestinal tract which is fixed to the posterior abdominal wall by the mesentery and ligaments). When the nerves and blood vessels distributed in or near the mesentery are stretched and exceed their tolerance limit, it can cause visceral nerve dysfunction and produce symptoms such as abdominal pain and nausea. This symptom is most likely to occur if you engage in strenuous exercise immediately after a full meal. In addition, during exercise, due to gravity, the contents of the small intestine accumulate in the ileocecal region, where the nerves and blood vessels are stretched, causing bloating and pain in the right lower abdomen.

(2) Visceral torsion:

Because the mobility of internal organs increases during exercise, some organs in pathological conditions (such as gastroptosis, intestinal ascaris, wandering kidney, spleen and ovarian cysts, mesenteric tumors, etc.) may sometimes twist. This cause of abdominal pain is more common in people who lack exercise or do not exercise according to their schedule.

To prevent abdominal pain during exercise, you should avoid mental stress, do sufficient warm-up exercises, and pay attention to gradually increasing the amount of exercise and doing it within your ability. In addition, before strenuous exercise, do not eat too much, do not eat food that you are not used to, and do not exercise on an empty stomach. It is generally best to exercise 1 hour after a meal.
