What causes excessive dandruff?

What causes excessive dandruff?

It is well known that dandruff can generally be divided into dry and oily types. Among them, dry dandruff is mostly loosely distributed on the scalp and falls off when you comb or scratch your hair; while oily dandruff sticks to the hair and is less likely to fall off, and usually exists in the form of greasy yellowish flakes. So what causes excessive dandruff? What are the possible causes of dandruff in life? The following article will take you through a brief understanding.

There are many reasons for dandruff: excessive secretion of sebum and dust mixed together, after drying, it becomes dandruff; although there is less sebum, it can also become dandruff due to abnormal proliferation of keratinocytes; people who overuse their brains and those with high metabolism are more likely to develop dandruff; climate change, lack of sleep, eating spicy food, excessive smoking and drinking, abnormal hormones in the body, poor blood circulation in the human body, excessive mental stress, gastrointestinal indigestion, etc., can all produce a large amount of dandruff; in addition, scalp desquamation is also related to the lack of vitamin B in the body.

Clean up the "scraps" in front of your own door

1. Shampoo

Mild dandruff does not require special treatment. Some cases are just residues from hairspray or flakes accumulated from shampoo. Pay attention to adjusting your diet, keeping your head clean, and using shampoo with anti-dandruff function to play a suppressive role.

Anti-dandruff shampoo is different from general shampoo. The former is a medicated cosmetic or medicine and should not be used too often. Relevant departments recently conducted random inspections and found that many shampoos contain antibacterial ingredients, but the ingredients are not indicated in the instructions. If consumers use them every day, they may develop dermatitis or even gray hair due to excessive use.

If dandruff is very severe, use a special shampoo containing benzoyl peroxide and cadmium. If you still have a lot of dandruff after three weeks, you should see a dermatologist. Products like Xi'an Janssen's Cai Le are pharmaceutical in nature and are available in pharmacies; while Xi'an's Xie Jing and Henan's Ke Xie Wang are plant-based anti-dandruff shampoos that you can also try.

The correct way to wash your hair is an important part of removing dandruff. Avoid washing your hair with hot water that is too hot, and massage your scalp with your fingertips to avoid scratching your head and causing bacterial infection. In addition, you can remove dandruff by massaging your scalp during shampooing, and finally use anti-dandruff shampoo to suppress dandruff. The following is the correct shampooing procedure for reference:

1. Comb your hair thoroughly before shampooing to help prevent tangles and breakage during washing.

2. Apply the gel to your scalp, massage lightly and leave on for 10 minutes. This can deeply clean the scalp, remove dandruff, and inhibit excessive growth of bacteria and microorganisms.

3. Wet your hair completely from scalp to ends with warm water. Take an appropriate amount of shampoo and pour it into the palm of your hand, not directly onto your scalp. Add water to shampoo and rub into foam, then wash the scalp and hair separately.

4. Use your fingertips to massage your scalp back and forth to promote blood circulation in the scalp and remove dead skin cells and oil. Then rinse your hair thoroughly with warm water.

5. Apply conditioner to the ends of your hair to increase elasticity and protect your hair. Rinse your hair carefully with warm water, as improper rinsing can cause serious damage to your hair.

6. Use a dry towel to gently press the hair, and never rub the fragile and easily broken hair roughly.

7. In addition to cleaning the scalp, using a spray repair lotion can also inhibit dandruff and protect hair. Because it has the effects of purifying, anti-allergic and rebuilding hair elasticity, it can provide comprehensive hair care with twice the result with half the effort.

8. Massaging with the scalp repair agent can help prevent and stop the recurrence of dandruff, while increasing the glossiness of hair and giving it a plant aroma. The goal can be achieved with simple and effective massage movements.

9. When using a hair dryer, do not blow directly at high temperatures. When the hair is 80% dry, it can provide sufficient rest space for the hair. If you want to blow-dry your hair into a beautiful style, you can also use a comb to blow-dry your hair into a smooth style when it is 70% to 80% dry.

2. Massage

In addition to simple daily care and scalp massage, massage treatment can also increase the temperature of the head skin, accelerate blood circulation and metabolism, and allow the sebaceous glands, sweat glands, hair follicles and other accessory organs of the scalp to function normally, thereby reducing dandruff.

Method A: Use your fingers or palms on both sides or on one side to massage back and forth from the hairline on the forehead to the occipital shell until your scalp feels warm.

Method B: Put your hands together at 90 degrees and tap gently from the hairline to the back until your head feels relaxed.

3. Diet therapy

It is said that food supplements are worse than medicine supplements, and the same applies to the treatment of dandruff. In your daily diet, consume more foods containing vitamin B and alkaline foods. This can also reduce dandruff by balancing the acidic components in the body that are harmful to the head skin. Also try to avoid coffee and acidic foods that are high in sugar.

Vitamin B is the key to releasing energy from food and is also an essential substance for the formation of human tissues. Lean meat, bread, cereal products (such as brown rice, whole grains), and milk all contain large amounts of vitamin B1, which can promote gastrointestinal function and increase appetite; eating more beef, yogurt, cereal, broccoli, asparagus and spinach can help the body adapt to various pressures, because the rich vitamin B2 can treat seborrheic dermatitis; and fish and eggs are rich in vitamin B12, which can promote blood circulation.

Eating more foods rich in vitamin B6 plays an important role in the normal metabolism of protein and lipids. Therefore, you should eat appropriate amounts of animal liver, kidney, heart, egg yolk, milk, eel, soybean, fruit, honey, fresh vegetables, wheat germ, cereals and other foods, and drink plenty of water.

Avoid spicy and irritating foods, eat less high-fat and greasy foods, and eat less salt to prevent the faster formation of dandruff. Because when dandruff is produced more, it will be accompanied by itchy scalp, and spicy and irritating foods can aggravate the itching of the scalp, so you should eat less or no chili peppers, mustard, raw onions, raw garlic, wine and alcoholic beverages.

Eat less high-fat foods, especially people with oily dandruff should pay more attention. Because excessive fat intake will cause the sebaceous glands to secrete too much sebum, which will cause dandruff to form faster and aggravate the occurrence of dandruff.

Taking 50 to 200 micrograms of selenium orally every day can also help eliminate dandruff.
