In the early stages of pregnancy, some people are concerned about how to detect the gender of the baby. Relevant people told us that the gender of the fetus is mainly detected through blood tests, ultrasound, and amniocentesis. For non-medical needs, doctors cannot tell parents the gender of the fetus, because according to relevant laws of our country, informing the gender of the fetus is an illegal act. Methods for early pregnancy test At present, medicine is developing very rapidly. The main medical methods used to detect the gender of the fetus include amniocentesis, blood tests and ultrasound (B-ultrasound), etc. However, unless it is necessary for medical purposes, doctors generally will not tell parents the gender of the fetus. 1. Amniocentesis Amniocentesis is mainly used for auxiliary testing of children with Down syndrome, and it can also detect whether the chromosomes of the fetus are normal. The best time to test is around 16-20 weeks of pregnancy. At the same time, expectant mothers need to be reminded that amniocentesis is a traumatic examination and there is a certain risk of miscarriage. If parents do not have the necessary reasons, it is recommended not to use this method of testing. 2. DNA blood test DNA blood test is a fast and safe method to predict the gender of the fetus by analyzing part of the fetal DNA in the pregnant woman's blood. Moreover, as the fetus grows, the concentration of fetal DNA in the mother's body will become higher and higher, especially reaching its highest value 2 months after pregnancy. The accuracy of DNA blood tests can be as high as 98%. Therefore, this test is best performed when the pregnant woman is about 2 months pregnant. The danger and risk are almost zero. It is a relatively safe method that is often chosen and recognized. Since fetal gender testing is not allowed in mainland China, blood testing (sending pregnant women's blood to test fetal gender) in Hong Kong and other places is very popular among mainland expectant mothers. 3. Ultrasound (B-ultrasound) B-ultrasound is mainly for doctors to predict the gender of the fetus through sound wave scanning. This type of sound wave scanning requires the help of machines and the doctor's professional observation and judgment. After 16 weeks of pregnancy, ultrasound can be used to detect whether the fetal limbs are fully developed. Although the differences in the reproductive organs of boys and girls are quite obvious on B-ultrasound images, there are also cases where they are not clear. Doing B-ultrasound at the right time does not have much impact on the fetus, so it is widely used. However, according to reports, the accuracy of ultrasound in detecting the gender of the fetus is higher for male babies than for female babies, but there is also a certain degree of detection error.Folk methods of predicting the sex of the fetus In addition to medical methods of determining the sex of the fetus, China, a country with a long history, also has some traditional beliefs about whether a baby is a boy or a girl. Although some say these methods are accurate while others are not, as modern parents, we should still view them from a scientific standpoint. 1. Check the fetal heart rate. Checking the fetal heart rate means listening to the fetal heartbeat speed through a fetal heart monitor when the fetus is about three months old. The normal fetal heart rate is between 120 and 160 beats per minute. If the fetal heart rate is less than 140 beats/minute, the possibility of having a boy is high. If it is higher than 140 beats/minute, it is a girl. It is generally said that the fetal heart rate of a boy is lower than that of a girl. 2. Alcohol test The alcohol test refers to mixing the middle part of a pregnant woman's morning urine with 75% medical alcohol in a 1:1 ratio, and then observing its reaction in a transparent container. About 3 hours later, if there are clumps of suspended matter in the container, or very clear upper and lower layers, and there are clumps of floating matter that cannot be shaken off, then it is a boy. On the contrary, if there is sediment in the container, without any stratification, and the color is very turbid, it indicates that the baby is a girl. 3. Pencil test The pencil test can be used when the fetus is older than three months. This method relies on the principle that the magnetic field in the fetus' body causes the pencil to move. So you need a pencil with a sharpened end and an eraser on the other end. Then insert a needle in the middle of the eraser and pass a thread of appropriate length through the needle eye. Others help hold the needle and thread, and let the pencil move freely vertically on the artery near the pregnant woman's wrist, and then observe the results after stabilization. If the pencil moves regularly back and forth in the direction of the expectant mother's arm, it means she is pregnant with a boy; if the pencil moves regularly in a direction perpendicular to the pregnant woman's arm, it means she is pregnant with a girl; if the pencil remains still or circles around, it means she is not pregnant. |
