Baby gets diarrhea from air conditioning

Baby gets diarrhea from air conditioning

With the arrival of summer, the weather becomes hotter, and watermelon air conditioner becomes a necessary equipment in summer. Nowadays, many families have installed air conditioners. They keep the air conditioners on when the weather gets hot, even when they go to bed at night. This is fine for adults, but for babies with weak resistance, it is easy to catch a cold, which can cause diarrhea in babies. Are there any good methods to treat baby diarrhea? What should we do? Let’s take a look together.

The key to baby's diarrhea is to take good care of it:

First, give your baby enough water

Diarrhea can cause dehydration in babies, so you must give your baby enough water to prevent dehydration. For young babies, you must continue breastfeeding. Babies over 6 months old can be fed some tea or rice soup. Mothers need to pay attention that they must not give their babies high-sugar drinks or other beverages, as that will aggravate diarrhea.

Second, give your baby easily digestible food

When the baby is suffering from diarrhea, you should give him some light and easily digestible food, such as rice soup, vegetable soup, rice porridge or lactose-free milk, and follow the principle of small meals and frequent meals. Do not give the baby raw, cold or greasy food.

Third, take good care of your baby’s butt

After a baby has diarrhea, because the baby's skin is relatively delicate and the feces discharged during diarrhea are generally highly acidic, it will cause damage to the skin of the baby's buttocks. Therefore, after each bowel movement of the baby, the mother should first clean the perineum and surrounding skin with warm water, then clean the anus, and finally wipe it dry with a soft cloth.

When using air conditioning for babies, please pay attention to:

1. The baby cannot stay in the air-conditioned room for a long time

Babies are relatively young and have relatively low immunity and resistance. If they stay in an air-conditioned room all day and the air is not circulating, they are likely to develop fever, upper respiratory tract infection, tonsillitis, cough, runny nose, sinusitis and other symptoms.

2. Notes

You don’t need to use air conditioning in the morning and evening. You can turn on the air conditioner from noon to 3 pm when the temperature is relatively high. You can open the window or turn on the electric fan to keep cool at other times. If you feel hot when sleeping at night, you can turn on the air conditioner. It is best not to turn it on all night. Wait until the temperature drops and then open the window to let the air circulate. The room should be ventilated every 6-8 hours when the air conditioner is turned on.

3. Temperature and humidity

The suitable temperature for babies to use air conditioning should be between 27℃ and 28℃. When the baby comes indoors from the high temperature outdoors, the temperature difference felt by his nerves is too great and he is prone to catching a cold. It is recommended that the temperature difference between indoor and outdoor should be 3-5℃. Also pay attention to the indoor humidity. Parents can use a humidifier or fill some containers with water and place them in the house.

4. Clean the air conditioner regularly

Every half a month, the air filter membrane of the air conditioner needs to be flushed with a large amount of clean water to ensure the indoor air quality.

5. Choose the right clothes for your baby

Newborn babies have delicate skin and sweat a lot, so their clothes should be soft, moisture-absorbent, breathable and easy to wash, preferably light-colored pure cotton or pure knitwear. In an air-conditioned room, babies should wear one more piece of clothing than adults.

6. Baby's temperature

Measure your baby's temperature at least once a day to prevent him or her from having a fever due to air conditioning.
