Nursing care for patients with convulsions :

1. When a convulsion occurs, someone should be on guard to prevent tongue bites. If necessary, bed rails should be used to prevent falling out of bed.

2. Keep the airway open.

3. Reduce any stimulation to the patient during convulsions, keep quiet, and avoid strong light stimulation.

4. Closely observe the convulsion attacks, including the location, duration, and interval of the convulsions. Pay special attention to changes in consciousness and pupils, contact the doctor in time, and record the whole process in detail.

5. Prepare first aid supplies.

6. After a convulsion, the patient should be allowed to rest quietly and the room should be kept dim and quiet.

Since there are many causes of systemic convulsions, it is necessary to actively treat the primary disease to prevent it. For example, epileptic patients need to take medication as prescribed by their doctors. If they suddenly stop taking the medication, even for 1 to 2 days, it will cause epileptic seizures. For example, children are prone to cramps when they have a high fever, so timely fever reduction can prevent cramps; tetanus can cause cramps, so tetanus vaccine should be given to prevent tetanus; rabies can cause cramps, so it is important to prevent dog bites, and if bitten by a dog, go to the hospital for treatment immediately; livestock with rabies should be killed immediately; calcium deficiency can cause cramps, so children should supplement calcium (eat more calcium-containing foods, take calcium gluconate, calcium tablets, etc. when necessary), and at the same time get more sun exposure and take cod liver oil, etc.

Dietary precautions: Calcium deficiency may cause convulsions, so patients are advised to eat more calcium-containing foods in their daily lives, which will help reduce the occurrence of convulsions.

1. Milk

Half a pound of milk contains 300 mg of calcium, as well as a variety of amino acids, lactic acid, minerals and vitamins, which promote the digestion and absorption of calcium. Moreover, the calcium in milk is easier for the human body to absorb, so milk should be the main food for daily calcium supplementation. Other dairy products such as yogurt, cheese, and milk tablets are good sources of calcium.

2. Soy products

Soybeans are high-protein food and also high in calcium. 500 grams of soy milk contains 120 mg of calcium, and 150 grams of tofu contains as much as 500 mg of calcium. Other soy products are also good sources of calcium supplements.

3. Animal Bones

More than 80% of animal bones are calcium, but it is insoluble in water and difficult to absorb. Therefore, when making it into food, you can crush it in advance, add vinegar and cook it slowly over low heat. When eating, remove the floating oil and add some vegetables to make a delicious soup.

4. Vegetables

There are also many varieties of vegetables that are high in calcium. 100 grams of Chinese mustard greens contains 230 mg of calcium; each 100 grams of Chinese cabbage, rapeseed, fennel, coriander, celery, etc. also contains about 150 mg of calcium.
