Pain under earlobe

Pain under earlobe

Except in winter, our ears are almost always exposed because the function of ears is to allow us to hear various sounds so that we can identify the surrounding environment. When the weather is cold, some people's ears will freeze, and frostbite can last for several months. Sometimes when our ears itch, we scratch them hard. The earlobe is also a part of the ear. Girls also pierce their earlobes. So what happens if there is pain under the earlobe?

If you need to consider the possibility of sebaceous cyst on the earlobe, it is recommended not to rub it repeatedly and eat a light diet. If the pain is severe, you can take some preventive anti-inflammatory drugs, such as oral amoxicillin.

Many people with oily skin often grow a hard lump in their earlobe. Normally, they don’t feel anything if they don’t touch it, and it doesn’t itch, but it hurts if they squeeze it lightly with their hands. It feels somewhat similar to closed comedones. So what exactly is this?

Many people say that this has something to do with ear piercing, but that’s not true. Boys’ ears will grow long even without pierced ears! Some people say that it is caused by oily skin. Oh, that’s the point. Let’s take a look at the specific reasons! Anyway, it’s not frostbite!

The first reason: sebaceous cyst

Sebaceous cyst is also known as cyst. The main reason for its formation is the obstruction of the sebaceous gland excretion duct. The sebaceous gland cystic epithelium is expanded by the gradually increasing contents to form a retention cyst. Sebaceous cyst occurs slowly, is round in shape, has a clear boundary with the surrounding tissue, is soft in texture, is non-tender, and is movable. Generally no symptoms.

Sebaceous cysts are most common in teenagers, especially unmarried men. This is because they are in the energetic adolescence and their secretions are relatively strong. Therefore, if sebum is not cleaned in time, it is easy to accumulate in the earlobe, which will form sebaceous cysts over time.

Corresponding countermeasures: In general, pay attention to hygiene in daily life and remember to clean the surface of the ears when washing your face, and it will disappear without treatment. If a sebaceous cyst is abnormal, do not rush to treat it yourself, and be sure to go to the hospital for diagnosis.

The second reason: swollen lymph nodes

Many people have experienced the growth of a hard lump inside the earlobe. Generally, this is caused by the inflammation and swelling of the lymph nodes. Normally, the lymph nodes cannot be clearly felt. When they are swollen, they feel like a hard lump, as if a hard lump has suddenly grown.

Swollen lymph nodes may be caused by surrounding diseases, such as otitis media, scalp infection, etc. The lymph nodes themselves do not need to be treated, just the primary disease. If the primary disease is unknown, you can observe it first. This possibility is small, and it is usually located on the surface of the bone and under the skin in the middle of the earlobe.

Corresponding countermeasures: Don’t touch it often, otherwise it will get bigger. You can try taking some anti-inflammatory drugs to clear the heat in your body and see if it shrinks. If it doesn’t work, see a doctor and get his or her advice. Don't worry too much, most of these small hard lumps are caused by inflammation.

The third reason: earlobe inflammation

The inside of the earlobe is where the lymph nodes are most densely distributed, so if there is inflammation in other places, such as inflammation caused by a fall, getting angry, etc., it will cause the lymph nodes to become inflamed and swollen, which will form a hard lump inside the earlobe. The patient can try touching the hard lump. If it moves and feels painful, then the hard lump is just swollen lymph nodes and can be cured by anti-inflammatory treatment.

Corresponding countermeasures: If there is no pain when you touch it, then you should go to the hospital for a lymph node biopsy to determine whether it is a tumor. The growth of a hard lump behind the earlobe can be a serious matter, so if you find this lump, it is best to go to the hospital for examination as soon as possible.

The above three reasons are the main reasons for hard bumps on the earlobes. The first one is a common reason. If it is the second or third reason, you should pay attention.
