Feeling of choking and shortness of breath in the chest

A feeling of choking and shortness of breath in the chest are typical symptoms of chest tightness. Chest tightness will make people feel uncomfortable. If the chest tightness symptoms are caused by a more serious disease, it is necessary to go to the hospital for examination in time and receive treatment as soon as possible to ensure that the condition will not worsen. Below, we will introduce in detail the two types of chest tightness and specific treatment methods.

1. Functional chest tightness

(i.e. chest tightness without organic disease): People often experience chest tightness and fatigue when they stay in a room with closed doors and windows and poor air circulation for a long time, or encounter some unpleasant things, or even have quarrels or disputes with others, or are in a climate with low air pressure.

2. Pathological chest tightness

1. Respiratory obstruction: tumors in the trachea and bronchus, tracheal stenosis, and external pressure on the trachea (thyroid enlargement, tumors in the mediastinum);

2. Lung diseases: emphysema, bronchitis, asthma, atelectasis, pulmonary infarction, pneumothorax;

3. Heart disease: certain congenital heart diseases, rheumatic heart valve disease, coronary heart disease, heart tumors;

4. Diaphragmatic diseases : diaphragmatic swelling and diaphragmatic paralysis;

5. Disturbance of fluid metabolism and acid-base balance, etc.

6: Smoking can also cause chest tightness.

3. Treatment Methods

1. Psychosocial treatment: adjust the mentality, relax the spirit, eliminate worries, cultivate an optimistic and open-minded character, and maintain a good mood. A good mood is conducive to the coordination and unity of the nervous system and various organs and systems, so that the body's physiological metabolism is in the best state, thereby feedback-enhancing the vitality of brain cells and improving nerve function.

2. Physical exercise: Physical exercise can regulate and improve the brain's excitement and inhibition processes and adjust brain functions. In addition, exercise can significantly change a person's mood. Long-term exercise can enhance physical fitness, improve cardiovascular function, enhance the regulatory function of the autonomic nervous system, and restore autonomic nervous function.

3. Drug treatment:

For patients with symptoms of beta-receptor hypersensitivity such as palpitations, chest tightness, sweating, and long breathing, 2.5 mg of diazepam or 10 mg of propranolol can be taken orally (or 12.5-25 mg of atenolol 1-2 times/day).

4. Physical therapy: There are many reasons for chest tightness, including chest tightness caused by cervical spondylosis. You can use the Ainokang Chinese medicine pillow to treat cervical spondylosis, thereby treating chest tightness.
