How to take care of your second child during confinement

How to take care of your second child during confinement

With the opening of the two-child policy, many families have begun to think about having a second child. Because of the experience of giving birth to the first child, most pregnant women are not so anxious when giving birth to the second child, and they seem to be able to handle many things with ease. However, they still cannot take it lightly during the confinement period. Only by seriously conditioning the body can they avoid developing diseases and symptoms such as postpartum illness. So how should you take care of yourself during the confinement period of your second child?

How should women take care of themselves during confinement after childbirth?

1. Don’t touch cold water

When women are in confinement, they must not touch cold water or eat cold food. Because the mother's qi, blood, muscles and bones are very weak after giving birth, touching cold water will not help her body recover easily. To prevent catching cold or causing soreness.

2. Do not blow dry

Mothers should not be exposed to wind after giving birth. To prevent body aches, headaches, migraines, and even colds. Do not blow either hot wind or cold wind. Note that the air conditioner should not be blown in opposite directions.

3. Maintain indoor temperature and humidity

The mother should keep the room clean, bright, and with moderate temperature and humidity. Maintaining comfortable temperature and humidity is beneficial to the recovery of the mother's body. Under normal circumstances, the indoor temperature is maintained at 25-28 degrees Celsius and the humidity is about 50%-60%.

4. Nutritionally sound diet

The mother should also pay attention to her diet. You should have a nutritious and balanced diet and eat lighter foods. The more common foods during confinement are: eggs, millet porridge, vegetables, fruits, etc.

5. Self-cleaning and care

The mother should pay attention to her own care while maintaining the indoor temperature and avoiding colds. For example: washing your hair, face, hands, etc., the body should also be washed regularly to avoid bacterial infection and inflammation.

6. Move around appropriately

The mother should walk and rest in bed appropriately according to her own situation. This is very helpful for the discharge of lochia and the recovery of muscles, bones and body shape.

7. Rest at the same time as your baby

The mother should rest synchronously with the baby. When the baby falls asleep, mothers should take time to rest. This can not only reduce your fatigue, but also promote your body's recovery.

8. Use restraints frequently

After giving birth, women often face body shape change and abdominal loosening. Mothers should use the opportunity of confinement to adjust their body shape or improve some stretch marks and other symptoms on their body. Therefore, mothers should frequently wear restraint belts.

9. Wearing clothes

While maintaining the indoor temperature and humidity during the confinement period, the mother should also keep warm by wearing long pants, long sleeves, hats, gloves, scarves, and socks. Avoid facing the wind.

During the confinement period for the second child, new mothers should try their best to adjust themselves. Based on the causes of most postpartum diseases, new mothers should pay special attention to the following matters, which can not only alleviate the previous damage to the body, but also prevent other diseases.

1. Sweating and being exposed to wind on the head during the confinement period can cause headaches; contact with cold water often causes pain in the finger joints; thin clothes can cause pain in the knees, elbows and limbs; and heel pain is easy to occur if the shoes and socks are not warm. Therefore, new mothers should pay special attention to keeping warm.

2. Eat in moderation, otherwise it is easy to cause obesity and increase the chances of diabetes and cardiovascular diseases.

3. Do not do too much activity, and do not stand or sit for long periods of time, so as to avoid excessive fatigue and the leaving of illness.

4. Maintain a good mood, don’t be angry or irritable, be open-minded, and think less.

5. Sexual intercourse is prohibited during the confinement period.
