Speaking of lochia, I'm sure many people have never heard of it. In fact, lochia is the toxic blood in the lower body that has not been completely eliminated after giving birth, and there will be symptoms of lower body bleeding for a long time. This is a very normal physiological phenomenon and there is no need to worry too much. Most pregnant women who experience normal delivery will experience similar phenomena. However, some pregnant women are still worried. During the confinement period, the lochia appears to have stopped but it comes back again. What is going on? Under normal circumstances, postpartum lochia will gradually disappear after three weeks. If lochia still exists in the fourth week or appears suddenly, there is no need to panic. This situation is called retained lochia. Modern medicine believes that postpartum lochia that does not stop is a puerperal disease, and incomplete uterine involution is one of its main causes. However, there are many reasons why the uterus fails to fully involute after delivery, such as residual fetal membranes, incomplete shedding of fetal membranes, or combined endometritis or pelvic infection; or multiple pregnancy, advanced age, multiple births, relatively increased uterine fibrous tissue, etc. If after one month, the lochia is still not clear, and is accompanied by a foul or putrid odor, or is accompanied by abdominal pain, fever, it may also be an infection in the uterus, appendages (fallopian tubes, ovaries), or vagina; if the amount of lochia increases day by day, the color becomes redder and darker day by day, or bruises appear, these are all abnormal phenomena, or there is uterine bleeding, or cervical or vaginal trauma, or an infection has occurred. These situations should be paid attention to in time. There must be pathological factors involved and you need to go to the hospital for examination and treatment in time. What to do if postpartum lochia comes back after it has cleared It is recommended that mothers actively go to the hospital for an ultrasound examination. Ultrasound examination can show the situation in the uterus. If the uterus has not fully recovered, it can be treated with medication or injections, such as oral amoxicillin and Gongxuening. If there is any residue, uterine curettage is recommended. Mothers can also try taking the Chinese patent medicine Motherwort Paste or consult a Chinese medicine gynecologist for regulating Chinese medicine treatment. Mothers should also pay attention to personal hygiene, wash once a day, change sanitary napkins frequently, keep the body clean, and get out of bed for exercise appropriately. Do not eat blood-activating and nourishing foods such as brown sugar, red dates, rice wine, longan, soft-shelled turtle, old hen, etc. within three months. Because these foods can prolong the time it takes for lochia to clear up. |
