Symptoms of excessive muscle tension

Symptoms of excessive muscle tension

Hypertonia may occur at every stage. We should pay attention to the treatment of this symptom and understand its manifestations so that we can detect hypertonia and provide timely treatment. The main manifestations of excessive muscle tension are inability to laugh loudly and poor joint movement. It may also cause symptoms such as cerebral palsy and epilepsy. It is recommended that everyone should be aware of its symptoms.

1. What symptoms will children with high muscle tension show?

1. Symptoms of high muscle tone in children at different stages. Symptoms of high muscle tone in newborns: Children are very quiet after birth, cry weakly or cry continuously, which is often caused by abnormal muscle tone due to brain damage. They cannot suck after birth, suck weakly or refuse milk, feel tired and weak after sucking, often cough and spit up milk, their mouths cannot close well, and they have poor weight gain.

2. If a child cannot smile at 2 months and cannot laugh out loud at 4 months, he or she may be diagnosed with mental retardation. Parents must take the child to a regular hospital for examination.

3. Manifestations of high muscle tone in children: Lower limb manifestations include increased tone of the thigh adductor muscles, internal rotation of the hip joint, difficulty in thigh abduction, and plantar flexion of the ankle joint. The knee and hip joints are in a flexed position when lying down, it is difficult to raise the head when lying prone, and the head tilts back when lying supine. When I first started sitting, my head tilted back, and when I was able to sit later, it was difficult to straighten my legs. The spine is kyphotic, forming a W shape when kneeling, with the hips and knees slightly bent and the toes touching the ground when standing, and the heels cannot touch the ground and the feet are on tiptoe when walking due to the contraction of the Achilles tendon. The adductor muscles of the thigh are tight, giving the person a scissor-like gait when walking.

4. Children with high muscle tone are more irritable, startled by sounds, cry continuously, have difficulty falling asleep, have difficulty inserting their arms into sleeves when dressing, have difficulty opening their fists when bathing, and their whole body immediately becomes stiff when their lower limbs are at the corners of the bathtub or the water surface. Children with high muscle tone have their lower limbs extended, adducted and crossed, forming a scissor shape.

2. What are the dangers of high muscle tension in children?

1. Health and physical barriers: Children with cerebral palsy are generally shorter than normal children, have poor nutrition, often have breathing problems, and are susceptible to respiratory infections. Intellectual and emotional problems in children with cerebral palsy: the rate of concurrent mental retardation is extremely high, emotions are unstable, and IQ measurement is difficult.

2. Epilepsy: About half of children with cerebral palsy suffer from epilepsy. Language disorders: Cerebral palsy in children is caused by motor disorders of the vocal and articulatory organs, hearing disorders, intelligence and growth environment.

3. Hearing impairment: The degree of hearing impairment varies from high to low notes, which shows that cerebral palsy in children is very harmful.

4. Visual impairment: About 20% of children with cerebral palsy have eye impairment. Cerebral palsy brings not only physical harm to children, but more importantly, psychological trauma. If the disease is discovered, it must be diagnosed and treated early to give the child a bright future. If everything goes well with the baby's birth, all aspects of the assessment are normal, and the growth and development are normal, he or she will generally not suffer from cerebral palsy. If he or she is later found to have slight abnormalities in muscle tone during examination, most of the time these should be normal and subsequent follow-up examinations will suffice.
