Can blood tests check blood lipids?

Now that living conditions are getting better and better, many people have begun to satisfy themselves in terms of material things and food. They go crazy eating things that they couldn’t bear to eat or buy before, and try new things. Gradually, some people develop high blood pressure, some develop high blood lipids, and some even have diabetes. So more and more people are checking their blood lipid health on a regular basis. Can routine blood tests check blood lipids?

Make three major preparations before checking blood lipids: avoid greasy food and alcohol

The first preparation:

Fasting: The doctor will tell you not to eat breakfast on the day of blood drawing, and you must fast for more than 12 hours. This is mainly to prevent changes in the composition and content of lipids and lipoproteins in the blood of the subjects after a meal. For example, after eating fatty foods, chylomicrons will appear in the blood and the triglyceride content will also increase. The blood lipid values measured at this time will obviously be "very different" from those measured when fasting.

This will last for 6-8 hours, and it will not return to the original fasting baseline level until 12 hours later. In addition to lipid foods, carbohydrates such as rice and steamed bread can also cause changes in lipid and lipoprotein content, but the degree of change is not as obvious as fat. Therefore, in order to make the test more accurate, you must have been fasting for more than 12 hours when the blood test is done.

The second preparation:

If you are in poor condition, check your blood lipid level carefully. It will change with some physiological and pathological conditions. For example, trauma, acute infection, fever, women's menstruation, pregnancy, etc. will affect the blood lipid level. Therefore, the results obtained by testing when the physiological and pathological conditions are relatively stable are more accurate.

The third preparation:

Make three major preparations before checking blood lipids: avoid greasy food and alcohol

Be aware of the medications you take. Some medications can also increase or decrease blood lipid levels. For example, birth control pills, beta-blockers, certain hormonal drugs, etc. may affect blood lipid levels. Therefore, if you are taking certain medications when measuring blood lipids, be sure to inform the doctor who prescribes the test order for you.

We need to pay attention to the disease of hyperlipidemia to avoid serious consequences after the disease worsens, but most people do not take hyperlipidemia seriously.

Suitable food:

1. Choice of staple food and beans: You can choose rice, wheat, corn, mung bean, peanut tofu, soybeans, and soy products that are rich in high-quality plant protein, plant sterols and lipid-lowering foods.

2. Choice of meat, eggs and milk: Appropriately choose foods that are low in fat and cholesterol and foods that have the effect of lowering cholesterol.

3. Choice of vegetables: You can choose more foods that can lower blood lipids, such as onions, shiitake mushrooms, mushrooms, oyster mushrooms, mussels, radishes, kelp, garlic, konjac, cucumbers, apples, hawthorn, etc.

4. Others: You can choose green tea which can lower blood lipids, and vegetable oils for cooking, such as soybean oil, corn oil, sunflower oil, tea oil, sesame oil, etc., 10 ml to 15 ml of cooking oil per day. It is advisable to use cooking methods such as steaming, boiling, stewing, blanching and simmering, and adhere to a low-salt diet, with less than 6 grams of salt per day.

Dietary restrictions:

1. Reduce animal fats such as lard, fatty pork, butter, fat lamb, fat beef, fat duck, fat goose, etc.

2. Avoid eating foods high in cholesterol, such as animal offal, egg yolks, fish roe, squid, etc.

2. Avoid drinking alcohol. Because alcohol can inhibit lipoproteinase, it can promote the synthesis of endogenous cholesterol and triglycerides, leading to increased blood lipids.
