Old tuberculosis of both lungs

Old tuberculosis of both lungs

Chronic tuberculosis means that the body has had tuberculosis in the past but has since recovered and does not require any treatment. Chronic pulmonary tuberculosis is not contagious. During the treatment, patients only need to pay attention to their rest and diet, and also quit smoking and drinking. Friends who are having a double relationship with chronic tuberculosis also need to maintain hygiene in their daily lives to avoid recurrence.

What to eat for chronic tuberculosis

Patients with chronic tuberculosis always look anxious and uneasy. Chronic pulmonary tuberculosis only indicates that the patient has had pulmonary tuberculosis before, and has been completely cured after treatment or has recovered on its own without treatment, and no treatment is required. Chronic pulmonary tuberculosis is not contagious. As long as patients pay attention to rest, diet, proper exercise, do not smoke, and improve the body's immunity, they can prevent recurrence and secondary infection. In addition, patients with chronic pulmonary tuberculosis should undergo chest X-rays or films regularly.

The first category, isoniazid: has a strong effect of killing tuberculosis bacteria, is inexpensive, and is currently an indispensable drug for the treatment of tuberculosis;

The second type, streptomycin: has a strong killing effect on Mycobacterium tuberculosis and is a component drug of the treatment regimen for the intensive phase (the first 2 months) of initial tuberculosis treatment. However, this drug has adverse reactions that damage cranial nerves, causing tinnitus, hearing loss, and even deafness, so pregnant women, children, and the elderly should not use it or use it with caution;

The third category, ethambutol: has an inhibitory effect on Mycobacterium tuberculosis, especially on Mycobacterium tuberculosis that is resistant to isoniazid and streptomycin, but attention should be paid to vision changes during medication.

In short, tuberculosis should be treated with combination medication under the guidance of a doctor.

Will old tuberculosis relapse?

Chronic pulmonary tuberculosis is a special type of pulmonary tuberculosis because patients often develop the disease without knowing it and often recover on their own without treatment. Many people worry about whether they will have a relapse after being diagnosed with chronic pulmonary tuberculosis. Today we will explain this question.

There is a possibility of recurrence of old pulmonary tuberculosis, which is a consequence of pulmonary tuberculosis treatment. However, it cannot be ruled out that there are still dormant tuberculosis bacteria in the lesions, which can easily invade the human body again when the body's resistance is weak. Chronic tuberculosis is a stable tuberculosis lesion, and there are two mechanisms for its formation, namely, cured tuberculosis and self-healing tuberculosis. There are also two reasons for recurrence, namely: endogenous recurrence and reinfection recurrence. The chance of recurrence of reinfection is the same as that of normal people, but it is called a recurrence for people who have had tuberculosis before. As for endogenous recurrence, it depends on whether your disease is cured completely. If it is a sterile lesion, there is no possibility of endogenous recurrence. If there are still dormant tuberculosis bacteria, they may relapse under suitable conditions (low resistance). This is something that normal people do not have, so the possibility of recurrence is greater than that of normal people.

Chronic tuberculosis is the scar left after treatment of tuberculosis. Clinically, there will be no symptoms of tuberculosis poisoning such as hot flashes and night sweats, and the main manifestations are calcification and fibrous foci. Generally speaking, old tuberculosis lesions indicate that the tuberculosis has been cured, and the remaining calcifications and fibrous lesions will no longer disappear. It can be said that chronic pulmonary tuberculosis only indicates that the patient has had tuberculosis before and recovered on his own after treatment. Some people do not know it because their symptoms are not obvious, and they recover on their own without treatment because their body's immunity is strong. This is just like the scar left after a wound on your hand heals and does not need treatment.
