People of all ages should have a routine blood test. This is not only for their own health, but also to check whether the blood in the body is normal. Because all the normal functions of the human body are maintained by healthy blood, an increase or decrease in blood is not best for the body. Babies should pay attention when doing a routine blood test, as there are many things that need to be checked. 1. Introduction to blood routine test Routine blood test includes hemoglobin determination, red blood cell count, white blood cell count and white blood cell differential count. a. Hemoglobin (Hb): Normal males are 120-160 g/L, females are 110-150 g/L, and newborns are 170-200 g/L. * Increased: Polycythemia vera, severe dehydration, cor pulmonale, congenital heart disease, residents in mountainous areas, severe burns, shock, etc. Reduces: Anemia, bleeding* b. Red blood cell (RBC) count: Normal males: 4-5.5 million/μL, females: 3.5-5 million/μL, newborns: 6-7 million/μL; * Increased: Polycythemia vera, severe dehydration, cor pulmonale, congenital heart disease, residents in mountainous areas, severe burns, shock, etc. Reduces: Anemia, bleeding* c. White blood cell (WBC) count: normal adults: 4000-10000/μL, newborns: 15000-20000/μL, infants from 6 months to 2 years: 11000-12000/μL. *Elevated: Various cell infections, inflammations, severe burns. Leukemia should be excluded when the level is significantly elevated. Reduce: Leukopenia, hypersplenism, hematopoietic dysfunction, bone marrow suppression caused by radiation, drugs, chemical toxins, malaria, typhoid, viral infection, paratyphoid. *Leukocytosis is common in inflammatory infections, bleeding, poisoning, leukemia, etc. Its reduction is common in viral infectious diseases such as influenza and measles, severe sepsis, drugs or radiation, and certain blood diseases. * d. White blood cell differential count (DC, measured in ratio): White blood cells are divided into 5 categories. One is neutrophil (Gran), the normal range is 0.50-0.70, and the reasons for increase or decrease are the same as those for white blood cell count; *Increased: bacterial infection, inflammation; Reduces: Viral infections* The second is lymphocytes (Lym), the normal range is 0.20-0.40. When it increases, it is common in neutropenia, tuberculosis, whooping cough, etc.; its decrease is common in neutropenia; * Increased: whooping cough, infectious mononucleosis, viral infections, acute infectious lymphocytosis, lymphocytic leukemia; Reduced: Immunodeficiency* The third is eosinophils, the normal range is 0.005-0.05, and increased levels are seen in parasitic diseases, allergic diseases and certain skin diseases; *Increased: Chronic myeloid leukemia and chronic hemolytic anemia.* Fourth, alkaliphils, the normal range is 0 to 0.01, which is of little clinical significance; The fifth is monocytes, the normal range is 0.03-0.08, and an increase in the number is seen in the recovery period of acute infectious diseases. *Increased: Tuberculosis, typhoid fever, malaria, monocytic leukemia.* |
