Precautions after cupping

Precautions after cupping

Cupping is a method commonly used in traditional Chinese medicine to treat diseases and maintain health. As modern people pay more attention to health, cupping has become one of the good choices for modern people to maintain health. Of course, cupping is a method of treating and preventing diseases in traditional Chinese medicine. Therefore, you should pay attention to the precautions after cupping so that cupping can achieve the best effect.

Because for modern people, although they know that cupping is good for health, they don’t know the precautions after cupping. If you don’t pay attention after cupping, not only will it not achieve the desired effect, but it will also affect your health. Therefore, people who are preparing to receive cupping must be careful.

(1) The body position must be appropriate. If the local skin and flesh are wrinkled, loose, scarred, uneven, or the body position is moved, the cupping jar will easily fall off.

(2) Choose a tank of appropriate size according to different parts. When using the fire-throwing method for cupping, the flame must be strong and the action must be quick, so that the mouth of the cup is tilted upward to prevent the fire source from falling and scalding the skin. When using the flash fire method, do not dip the cotton swab into too much alcohol to prevent the alcohol from dripping and burning or injuring the skin. When using the cotton sticking method, be careful not to burn the cotton when taking it off. When using the fire rack method, be sure to close the cover accurately and do not knock over the burning fire rack. When using a boiling water kettle, the hot water in the kettle should be shaken off to avoid scalding the patient's skin.

(3) When using cupping, it is necessary to prevent muscle contraction, which may cause bending of the needle, and to avoid pushing the needle into deep areas to prevent injury. Acupoints on the chest and back should be used with caution.

(4) When using bloodletting and cupping, the area of bleeding caused by the needle puncturing the skin should be equal to or slightly larger than the diameter of the cupping jar. The amount of bleeding should be appropriate, and the total amount for adults should not exceed 10ml each time.

(5) When using multiple cups, the distance between the cups should not be too close, otherwise the skin will be pulled by the cups and it will cause pain. At the same time, the cups will squeeze each other and it will be difficult to pull them out firmly.

(6) When using the cupping jar, do not push or pull on bony protrusions to avoid damaging the skin or causing the cupping jar to leak and fall off.

(7) When removing the cup, be gentle. Place one hand against the skin around the cup and press down to allow air to leak out. The cup can then be removed. Do not pull or twist it hard.

(8) If there is bleeding from the needle hole after cupping, wipe it off with a dry cotton ball. Generally, local redness or cyanosis (congestion) appears, which is a normal phenomenon and will disappear on its own. If local blood stasis is severe, it is not advisable to remove the tissue in the original position. If the cupping time is too long, blisters will form on the skin. Small ones do not need to be treated to prevent infection caused by abrasions; large ones can be punctured with a needle to drain the liquid in the blister, coated with gentian violet solution, and covered with a sterile dressing to prevent infection.

After understanding the precautions after cupping, it is important to note that although cupping is good for health and can play a role in health care, it is best not to perform cupping on pregnant women, women during pregnancy, young children, etc., so as not to affect their health.
