The efficacy and function of mulberry root bark

Mulberry tree is a common tree in our life. It is full of treasures. Mulberry leaves can be used to raise silkworms, and its fruit, mulberry, can be eaten as fruit. Even its root bark is a very useful medicinal material. In the cold winter, dig out the roots of the mulberry tree, separate the root bark from the root, discard the outermost yellow layer, and what remains is the mulberry root bark which can be used as medicine. So, speaking of this, what are the functions and effects of mulberry bark as a medicinal material?

Mulberry root bark is sweet and cold. It has the functions of clearing the lungs and relieving asthma, promoting diuresis and reducing swelling. It is mainly used to treat lung heat, cough, facial edema, hypertension, diabetes, urinary problems, and trauma. In addition, scientists have also studied other effects of mulberry root bark:

1. Lower blood sugar

In the 1970s, scientists decomposed a substance called moranoline from the root bark of mulberry trees. Later scientific research proved that this substance has the function of lowering blood sugar. In addition, scientists isolated a substance called moran A from the root bark of mulberry tree, which was later proved to be a glycoprotein that can lower blood sugar. Mulberry root bark contains hypoglycemic substances, which can reduce glucose-induced hyperglycemia to a certain extent.

2. Diuretic

The diuretic effect of mulberry root bark was discovered by Chinese medical scientists in ancient times. Today, scientists have fed mulberry root bark decoction to small animals and found that the urine volume of animals fed with mulberry root bark decoction increased significantly compared with those not fed with mulberry root bark decoction.

3. Anti-HIV

AIDS is a "super cancer" that still has no cure, but scientific research shows that 1-deoxynojirimycin, the active ingredient in mulberry root bark, can effectively reduce the infectivity of HIV. In addition, mulberry root bark also contains flavonoids momrusin, kuwanon H and morusin4-glucoside, which can reduce the activity of HIV virus to a certain extent.

4. Lowers Blood Pressure

Hypertension is no longer considered a disease of the elderly. Many middle-aged people and even young people also suffer from hypertension due to irregular lifestyles, eating habits, smoking, drinking, and emotional anxiety. Scientists fed mulberry root liquid to rabbits with essential hypertension and found that after a period of time, the diastolic blood pressure of the hypertensive rabbits was significantly reduced.

Can mulberry root bark cure hair loss?

Hair loss is a problem that plagues middle-aged and elderly people and greatly affects their appearance. Mulberry root bark has the effect of increasing the blood flow rate in the head capillaries, which can enhance hair firepower and improve hair loss.

In my country, there is a folk recipe for treating hair loss with mulberry root bark and aged vinegar: use 4 grams of mulberry root bark, 2 pounds of water, and 2 ounces of aged vinegar to boil and wash your hair once a day. Do not rinse your hair with clean water after washing. Use it for 5 consecutive days to promote blood circulation in the scalp, strengthen hair, treat dandruff, itchy scalp, and regenerate hair.
