How to treat spinal tuberculosis? It turns out there are so many symptoms

Spinal tuberculosis is a type of systemic tuberculosis. If abnormalities occur, there will be loss of appetite, weight loss, anemia or hypoproteinemia. To get the most adequate treatment, supportive treatment, local immobilization, anti-tuberculosis chemotherapy and other methods can be used, and the effect is very fast!

1. Supportive treatment

Tuberculosis patients often have loss of appetite, weight loss, anemia or hypoproteinemia. The overall condition is closely related to the improvement or deterioration of the lesions. Rest and nutrition are essential to the treatment of tuberculosis as an important step in improving the overall condition. Resting reduces the body's metabolism, reduces consumption, lowers body temperature, increases weight, and is beneficial to physical recovery. Therefore, patients should get enough rest and sleep. Improving nutritional status is also important. Actively supplement nutrition and provide delicious, easily digestible and nutritious food. Those with poor nutritional status can be supplemented with cod liver oil, vitamin B, C, etc. People with anemia can be given iron supplements, vitamin B12, folic acid, etc. Patients with severe anemia can receive blood transfusions intermittently, 1 to 2 times a week, 100 to 200 ml each time. People with poor liver function need liver protection treatment. Patients with concurrent infection can be given broad-spectrum antibiotics, or sensitive drugs can be given based on drug sensitivity tests. Paraplegic patients should receive enhanced care to prevent bedsores, lung infections, and urinary tract infections.

2. Local braking

Local braking can allow the spinal tuberculosis lesions to get sufficient rest, relieve pain, and create a stable local mechanical environment for tissue repair and healing at the lesion site. It is a commonly used preoperative and postoperative auxiliary treatment method. In the past, plaster fixation was the main method, but now it is being replaced by polymer thermoplastic braces.

3. Anti-tuberculosis chemotherapy

Chemotherapy with anti-tuberculosis drugs plays a decisive role in the control of tuberculosis. The principles of chemotherapy for tuberculosis are early, regular, full course, appropriate amount and combination. Early chemotherapy should be given immediately to all detected and confirmed patients. Some patients can also receive diagnostic treatment with anti-tuberculosis drugs when tuberculosis infection cannot be ruled out.

Early chemotherapy is beneficial for rapid early bactericidal effect, promoting lesion absorption and reducing infectiousness. Regularity means taking medication regularly in strict accordance with the doctor's instructions, without missing doses or stopping the medication, to avoid the development of drug resistance. The entire process, that is, ensuring that the prescribed treatment period is completed is an important measure to improve the cure rate and reduce the recurrence rate. Appropriate dosage means strictly following the appropriate drug dosage. If the drug dosage is too low, it cannot reach the effective blood concentration, affecting the efficacy and easily causing drug resistance. If the dosage is too large, drug toxicity and side effects may occur. Combination therapy, that is, the simultaneous use of multiple anti-tuberculosis drugs, can improve the efficacy and reduce or prevent the development of drug resistance through cross-bactericidal effects.
