Traditional Chinese Medicine Treatment Methods for Esophageal Erosion

Esophageal erosion can be regulated and treated through traditional Chinese medicine methods, but attention should be paid to the correct use of traditional Chinese medicine. Tangerine peel, Pinellia, Atractylodes, Ligusticum chuanxiong, Red Poria, and Gardenia are all commonly used traditional Chinese medicines. It is also recommended to consult a professional doctor.

Recipe 1: Liuyu Decoction (Medical Biography)

(Composition: 1. Tangerine peel (remove the white part), Pinellia (soaked in decoction 10 times), Atractylodes (soaked in rice water), Ligusticum chuanxiong 3g each, Red Poria, Gardenia (fried) 1g each, Cyperus rotundus 6g, Licorice (roasted), Amomum villosum (ground) 1.5g each.

(Usage) Chop the above medicine into small pieces, add 3 slices of ginger, boil with 300 ml of water until 150 ml is left and drink while warm.

(Effects) Promotes qi and blood circulation, eliminates stagnation and soothes the stomach.

(Indications) Qi, dampness, heat, phlegm, blood, and food stagnation in the middle burner.

(Addition and subtraction) For those with qi stagnation, add Atractylodes lancea, costus root, areca catechu, perilla frutescens, dried ginger, twice the amount of Cyperus rotundus, and Amomum villosum; for those with dampness stagnation, add Atractylodes macrocephala and twice the amount of Atractylodes lancea; for those with heat stagnation, add Coptis chinensis and twice the amount of Gardenia jasminoides; for those with phlegm stagnation, add Arisaema confusa, Citrus aurantium, and Gleditsia sinensis; for those with blood stagnation, add peach kernel, safflower, and peony bark; for those with food stagnation, add Crataegus pinnatifida, Shenqu, and malt.

Prescription 2: Banxia Houpu Decoction (from "Golden Chamber")

(Other names) Houpo Decoction (Shengji Zonglu), Daqiqi Decoction (Fan Sanyin Jiyi Bingzheng Fanglun), Siqi Decoction, Houpo Banxia Decoction (Yijian Fang), Qiqi Decoction (Renzai Zhizhi Fanglun).

(Composition) 12 grams each of Pinellia ternata and Poria cocos, 9 grams each of Magnolia officinalis and ginger, and 6 grams of Perilla leaf.

(Usage) Use 700 ml of water to decoct the above medicine and take 400 ml. Divide into 4 doses, 3 times a day and 1 time at night, and take it while warm.

(Effects) Promotes the flow of Qi and resolves stagnation, reduces adverse effects and resolves phlegm.

(Indications) There seems to be a foreign object in the throat, which cannot be vomited out or swallowed, chest and abdominal distension, nausea and loss of appetite, depression, irritability and anger, white and greasy tongue coating, and a stringy and slippery pulse.

(Addition and subtraction) This prescription was originally created for plum pit qi, and is used to treat patients with phlegm accumulation in esophagitis. You can choose to add heat-clearing drugs, such as Coptis chinensis, Gardenia jasminoides, etc., depression-relieving drugs, such as Bupleurum chinense, Curcuma aromatica, etc., and expectorant drugs, such as Tangerine peel, Arisaema consanguineum, etc.

Recipe 3: Shenxiang Powder (Pocket Prescription)

(Composition) 9 grams each of ginseng, cinnamon, and licorice, 15 grams each of pinellia, platycodon, immature bitter orange, tangerine peel, mulberry bark, green peel, ophiopogon, and dried orange peel, 18 grams each of perilla seed, cyperus, and poria, and 12 grams of costus root.

(Usage) The above medicine is powder. Take 24 grams each time, use 400 ml of water, add 3 grams of ginger, 5 dates, 20 rushes, boil until 200 ml, remove the residue, and take on an empty stomach.

(Effects) Warming the middle and strengthening the spleen, promoting qi and drying dampness.

(Indications) Spleen deficiency causing bloating and abdominal distension.

Recipe 4: Zhishu Erchen Decoction (Ancient and Modern Medical System)

(Composition) 15g of Citrus aurantium (fried), 3g each of Atractylodes macrocephala (fried), Pinellia ternata (processed), Poria cocos, and Tangerine peel, and 2g of Licorice (roasted).

(Usage) Use 220 ml of water, add ginger and jujube, decoct in water and drink while warm.

(Effects) Drying away dampness and eliminating fluid, promoting qi circulation and harmonizing the stomach.

(Main indications) Phlegm and fluid in the spleen and stomach, and chest and diaphragm discomfort.
