(2) Anti-inflammatory effect: The anti-inflammatory effect of Xiao Chaihu Granules was observed using rat and mouse models. Results: Xiao Chaihu Tablets significantly inhibited the permeability of peritoneal capillaries in rats with early inflammation, and inhibited carrageenan-induced swelling of the toes of mice.

(3) Hepatoprotective effect: After oral administration of Xiao Chaihu granules to mice for 2 weeks, the results showed that it had a good protective effect against acute liver damage caused by carbon tetrachloride. The high-dose group (2.5 g/kg) could significantly reduce the activities of serum alanine aminotransferase and aspartate aminotransferase in model mice (P<0.05).

Another study used an animal model of liver damage in mice induced by 500 mg/kg acetaminophen to observe the effect of Xiao Chaihu Granules on liver damage. Results: Xiao Chaihu Granules 13.4 g/kg and 26.8 g/kg could significantly reduce the hepatotoxicity of acetaminophen by increasing the level of GSH in the liver, and there was a certain dose-dependent relationship. Pathological examination also supports its hepatoprotective effect.
