Allergic purpura is a relatively common disease. When allergic purpura occurs, multiple symptoms often appear, such as respiratory tract infection, brown-red maculopapular rashes on the skin, which will not fade when pressed by hand. In addition, it often causes symptoms such as redness, swelling and pain in the joints, movement disorders, and some digestive tract symptoms. Symptoms of Henoch-Schonlein Purpura in Adults 1. General symptoms Most patients have a history of upper respiratory tract infection and symptoms 1 to 2 weeks before the onset of the disease. 2. Skin manifestations The typical rash is brown-red maculopapules that protrude from the skin surface and do not fade when pressed. They may appear alone or fused together, and are distributed symmetrically. They are more common on the extensor sides of the limbs and buttocks, and rarely invade the trunk. They may be accompanied by itching or pain, appear in batches, and may leave pigmentation after they disappear. In addition to purpura, complications such as urticaria, angioedema, erythema multiforme or ulcer necrosis may also occur. Occasionally, purpura may occur on the oral mucosa or conjunctiva of the eyes. 3. Joint manifestations The joints may experience mild pain, or significant redness, swelling, pain, and movement disorders. The lesions often involve large joints, most commonly the knees, ankles, elbows, wrists, etc. They may be migratory and are often misdiagnosed as "rheumatism." It is mainly a periarticular lesion, which may recur without leaving any joint deformity. 4. Abdominal manifestations Abdominal pain is common and is often colic, caused by extravasation of blood into the intestinal wall. The pain is obvious in the navel and right lower abdomen, and may also spread to the entire abdomen, but there is generally no abdominal muscle tension and the tenderness is mild. It may be accompanied by nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and black stools. Irregular intestinal peristalsis may lead to intussusception, and a mass may be palpable, which is more common in children. Intestinal perforation may occasionally occur. If it is not accompanied by skin purpura, it is often misdiagnosed as "acute abdomen". After reading the article, we have an understanding of the symptom types of Henoch-Schönlein purpura. Understanding these symptom types can help people detect the disease earlier and receive symptomatic treatment earlier when they are suffering from the disease. Because the occurrence of Henoch-Schönlein purpura brings great health hazards to patients, it is critical to receive treatment early. |
