What are the TCM treatments for insomnia?

There are many ways to treat insomnia now, such as making good preparations before going to bed, developing good eating and sleeping habits, choosing psychological and behavioral therapy, etc. Today, I recommend the Chinese medicine method of treating insomnia. The following prescriptions have been proven to be very effective, but if you want to completely cure insomnia, you must do more work.

1. 10 grams of Chinese jujube kernel powder and 15 grams of green tea. Brew 15 grams of green tea and drink it before 8 am in the morning. Avoid drinking tea after 8 am. Take 10 grams of Chinese jujube seed powder before going to bed at night. Use with caution in women with hypertension, tachycardia, habitual constipation and breastfeeding women.

2. 15 grams of Codonopsis pilosula, 9 grams of Ophiopogon japonicus (without the core), 6 grams of Schisandra chinensis, 30 grams each of Polygonum multiflorum and Dendrobium officinale. Take with warm water before dinner, keep the residue and boil again, take again 1 hour before going to bed at night, 1 dose per day.

3. 2 eggs, 15 grams of wolfberry, and 10 red dates. The Chinese medicine remedy for insomnia is to boil wolfberry and red dates in water for 30 minutes, then beat the eggs into the water and cook until cooked. Take it twice a day. Mainly used to treat insomnia and forgetfulness.

4. 30 grams of wheat kernels, 15 dates, and 15 grams of licorice. Peel the wheat, put it into the pot with the last two ingredients, add 3 bowls of water, and simmer until 1 bowl is left. Take it every night before going to bed.

5. 15 grams each of dried longan meat and water chestnut, 100 grams of polished rice, 6 grams of cored lotus seeds, and appropriate amount of white sugar. Boil the water chestnuts, remove the shells, and mash them into rice-like pieces. Wash the japonica rice and put it into a pot. Add lotus seeds, longan meat, water chestnuts and water. Cook it into porridge and then add sugar. Take one dose per day.

6. 30 grams of wolfberry, 40 grams of fried jujube kernels, and 10 grams of Schisandra chinensis. Mix well and divide into 5 portions. Take 1 portion daily, put it in a teacup, brew with boiling water, and drink frequently instead of tea. Or drink 3 times a day, but not less than 500 ml each time.

7. Pour peanut leaves (fresh leaves are best) into a pot or cup with boiled water, wait until the color of the peanut leaves is soaked and then drink it. You will be able to fall asleep in about 10 minutes. The efficiency is over 95%.

8. 20 grams each of Salvia miltiorrhiza, Polygala tenuifolia, Acorus calamus, and sulfur. This is one of the traditional Chinese medicine remedies for treating insomnia. Grind the materials into fine powder, add appropriate amount of white wine, mix into a paste, stick it on the navel, then pad it with cotton, fix it with adhesive tape, and change the dressing once every night.

9. 15 grams of longan meat, 10 grams of wolfberry, 4 red dates, and 100 grams of glutinous rice, wash them, add water and cook into porridge, take it twice a day (in the morning on an empty stomach and before going to bed at night), regular use is effective.

10. 15 grams of Poria cocos and 1 raw egg yolk. Add one and a half cups of water to Poria and boil it into one cup. When it cools down a bit, add the eggs and mix well. Wash your feet with warm water before going to bed, then take the medicine while it is still hot, and you will fall asleep in a short time.
