Is it serious to have cardia polyps?

The occurrence of cardia polyps has a relatively large impact on patients. It will cause a feeling of obstruction when swallowing food, and will also cause discomfort symptoms such as pain and stuffiness behind the sternum, and the throat will often be dry and painful.

1. Choking sensation when swallowing food. There are only mild swallowing discomfort symptoms, and the patient can generally eat normal food without affecting health. Sometimes there is a feeling of stagnation when swallowing food. The occurrence of symptoms is often related to the patient's mood swings.

2. Pain or discomfort behind the sternum. About half of the patients complained of mild pain or discomfort behind the sternum when swallowing rough, hard, hot or irritating foods, but the pain was less severe when swallowing liquid or warm foods.

3. Foreign body sensation in the esophagus. The patient feels like there is something like rice grains or vegetable pieces attached to the esophagus wall, which he can neither swallow nor spit out, and he still feels like there is a foreign body even without swallowing.

4. Dry throat and constriction. One-third of patients complained of dryness and tightness in the throat, difficulty or slight pain in swallowing food, which was particularly noticeable when swallowing dry or rough food.

5. Food passes slowly and feels stagnant. The same feeling can be felt when drinking water. In addition, more than half of the patients developed symptoms one year after diagnosis, and some as long as four years. It is of great clinical significance to make a correct diagnosis and take correct treatment for early esophageal cancer.

6. Lumps in the neck and above the clavicle. It is a common sign of advanced esophageal cancer. The lump is painless, progressively enlarges, and is hard. It is mostly on the left side but can also be bilateral.

7. Hoarse voice. When the tumor directly invades or metastases compress the recurrent laryngeal nerve, vocal cord paralysis occurs, leading to hoarseness. Hoarseness may improve in some patients with effective treatment.
