High cholesterol dietary taboos for women

High cholesterol dietary taboos for women

For women, if cholesterol is too high, it will cause great harm to health. High cholesterol is one of the culprits of cardiovascular disease. Investigations have found that for every 1% increase in cholesterol, the risk of coronary heart disease will increase to 2%. Therefore, for patients with cholesterol, they must pay attention to their diet and try not to eat high-cholesterol foods, such as animal offal, egg yolks, and some seafood. Try to eat less of them.

High cholesterol dietary taboos for women

1. Egg yolk

One egg contains 292.5 mg of cholesterol, mainly concentrated in the yolk. Therefore, the "Dietary Guidelines for Chinese Residents" issued by the Chinese Nutrition Society recommends that ordinary adults eat 0.5 to 1 eggs per day. Patients with dyslipidemia should not eat more than 2 to 3 eggs per week.

2. Animal offal

The kidneys, livers, lungs, and intestines of animals including pigs, cattle, sheep, and chickens contain approximately 200 to 400 mg of cholesterol per 100 grams of offal. Therefore, animal offal should be eaten as little as possible, no more than twice a month.

3. Animal brains

Calculated based on 100 grams of food weight, the cholesterol content of pig brain is 2571 mg, sheep brain is 2004 mg, and cow brain is 2447 mg. Therefore, if you eat animal brains, it is advisable not to eat it more than once or twice a year.

4. Squid

Although many invertebrates are widely loved for their low fat content and low cholesterol, squid is an exception. This is because the cholesterol content of squid per 100 grams is as high as 400 mg or more.

5. Cream, butter, etc.

Although milk is not a high-cholesterol food and the cholesterol content in 100 grams of milk is only about 45 mg, dairy products can cause hypercholesterolemia. At this time, because foods rich in saturated fatty acids can cause the liver to produce a large amount of cholesterol, while reducing the efficiency of cholesterol excretion, the cholesterol content in the blood increases, and the excess cholesterol will accumulate in the arteries. The saturated fatty acids in these oils can also promote the liver to synthesize more cholesterol.

6. Animal fat

For example, butter, chicken fat, and fish oil contain a lot of saturated fatty acids, which promote the synthesis of cholesterol. Also, because animal fats are difficult to digest, the liver will overwork and reduce its ability to clear cholesterol.
