【Plant morphology】Brick seedling

The rhizome is short, with sparsely clustered stems, 10 to 50 cm high, and sharply triangular in shape. The leaves are shorter than or as long as the culm, 3 to 6 mm wide; the leaf sheaths are brown or reddish brown. There are 5 to 8 leaf-like bracts, longer than the inflorescence; the umbel has 6 to 12 radiating branches of varying lengths, up to 8 cm long; the spike inflorescence is cylindrical or oblong, with many densely growing spikelets; the spikelets are flat or slightly drooping, linear-lanceolate, with 1 to 2 nutlets; the spikelet axis is broad-winged, white, and transparent; the scales are membranous, with edges often involute, light yellow or greenish-white, with many veins on the underside, and 3 middle veins are obvious; there are 3 stamens, and the anthers are linear; the style is short, with 3 stigmas, and is slender. The nutlets are narrowly oblong, triangular, brown, and have fine, slightly raised dots on the surface. The flowering and fruiting period is from April to October.
