What causes ulcers?

Ulcers can be said to be a very annoying thing nowadays. I feel very uncomfortable every time I have a mouth ulcer, and it hurts even when I eat. Therefore, I think ulcers are very easy to occur. There are many reasons for ulcers. Oral ulcers may be related to getting angry or endocrine disorders. Ulcers in other parts of the body may be more caused by inflammation. But no matter what the reason is, I hope everyone can understand the causes and prevention of ulcers and stay away from ulcers.

1. Long-term oral ulcers are caused by these 5 reasons

1. Digestive system diseases and functional disorders

Patients with systemic diseases are prone to oral ulcers, mainly by affecting the immune system. Oral ulcers are related to gastric ulcers, duodenal ulcers, ulcerative colitis, regional enteritis, hepatitis, etc. Studies have shown that 30%-48% of patients with oral ulcers have digestive tract diseases, such as abdominal distension, diarrhea or constipation. More than 9% of them have gastrointestinal ulcers.

2. Endocrine changes

Some female patients often experience it during menstruation, which may be related to the decrease in estrogen levels in the body. Some women will experience oral ulcers during their menstrual period or before and after their menstrual period. Medication can only provide temporary relief, and the ulcers will reappear during the next menstrual period, causing unbearable pain. At the same time, they are often accompanied by annoying symptoms such as dry mouth, upset, irritability, and dry stools. Clinical studies have found that oral ulcers during menstruation are mainly caused by increased progesterone levels and decreased estrogen (progesterone, etc.) levels in the body.

3. Mental factors

Some patients become ill when they are under mental stress, mood swings, or have poor sleep, which may be related to autonomic dysfunction.

4. Genetic factors

If both parents suffer from recurrent oral ulcers, about 80-90% of their children will suffer from the disease. If one parent has the disease, about 50-60% of their children will suffer from the disease.

5. Other factors

Lack of trace elements such as zinc and iron, lack of folic acid, vitamin B12 and malnutrition can reduce immune function and increase the possibility of recurrent oral ulcers. Viruses may be the initiating factors of oral ulcers, but relevant antibodies have not yet been found in patient serum, and there are no reports of isolating viruses from oral ulcer lesion tissues. The role of bacteria in oral ulcers has been proposed for many years. The bacteria closely related to oral ulcers include Streptococcus sanguinis and Helicobacter pylori.

2. Treatment of long-term oral ulcers

For those who have no oral infection, preventive measures should be taken, and for those who can take care of themselves, drugs should be used to treat oral ulcers. Encourage them to rinse their mouths frequently; for those who are in critical condition and cannot take care of themselves, use hemostatic forceps to hold a cotton ball for cleaning. Commonly used drugs include 1:5000 furacil solution, 3% boric acid solution, Dobe solution, 3% sodium bicarbonate (commonly known as baking soda), 1% hydrogen peroxide, etc. 3 times a day, 1 to 3 minutes each time.

Oral gargles and external application medicines can eliminate inflammation, reduce swelling and pain, and promote ulcer healing. When applying medication topically, you should first clean your mouth with mouthwash, especially the affected area, to remove food residues, saliva, etc., then wipe it gently with a clean cotton swab before applying the medication topically so that the medicine can adhere directly to the ulcer surface.

"Membrane" is used to treat oral ulcers, and the therapeutic effect of membrane is also good. The membrane is based on a polymer material and absorbs one or several drug ingredients, which can maintain the drug for a long time. It can adhere to the surface of ulcers relatively firmly, and fully exert its anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, analgesic and healing-promoting effects, such as the Ruyi Ke patch. In addition, the coating method also has a good effect on the treatment of oral ulcers. The coating method is to apply the drug directly to the oral ulcer wound, such as using chloramphenicol glycerol, gentian violet, nystatin glycerol, tin powder and glacial boric acid and other drugs directly on the oral ulcer wound.

Generally, patients will feel pain relief on the same day of taking the medicine and recover within 1 month. Although there are many treatments for oral ulcers, they are basically symptomatic treatments, the main purpose of which is to relieve pain or reduce the number of recurrences, but they cannot completely control recurrence, so prevention of this disease is particularly important.

You should pay attention to keeping your mouth clean, gargle with light salt water frequently, quit smoking and drinking, have a regular daily life, and ensure adequate sleep. Keep exercising, eat a light diet, eat more vegetables and fruits, eat less spicy, greasy and irritating foods, and keep your bowels open. Women should pay attention to rest before and after menstruation, maintain a happy mood, avoid excessive fatigue, eat a light diet, eat more fruits and fresh vegetables, drink plenty of water, etc., to reduce the chance of oral ulcers.

3. Nursing methods for long-term oral ulcers

1. Beat the eggs into a bowl and mix into a paste. Put an appropriate amount of mung beans in a ceramic pot and soak in cold water for more than ten minutes. Put on the fire and boil for about 1.5 minutes (do not cook for too long). At this time, the mung beans are not cooked. Take the mung bean water and mix it with frangipani to drink. Drink it once in the morning and evening every day. It is effective in treating oral ulcers.

2. Take 1 Liushen Pill (30 pills), grind it into powder, add 2 ml of cold boiled water to soak it into a thin paste for later use. Clean the patient's mouth before use, then use a thin cotton swab dipped in Liushen Pills liquid to apply to the ulcer surface. It is best to use the medicine 1 to 15 minutes before meals, 3 times a day, and one more time before bedtime. Generally, the pain relief effect can be achieved within 5 minutes of taking the medicine. Small ulcers can heal in 1 to 2 days, while larger ulcers can heal in 5 days.

3. Apply Yunnan Baiyao to the oral ulcer wound twice a day. It usually heals in 2 to 3 days.

4. Take whole milk powder 2 to 3 times a day, one tablespoon each time, add a little sugar, and drink it with boiled water. It is better to drink it before going to bed at night. Generally, the ulcer symptoms disappear within 2 days.

5. Cut half a watermelon, dig out the pulp, squeeze out the juice, hold the juice in your mouth, swallow it after about 2 to 3 minutes, then hold new watermelon juice, and repeat several times.

6. Crush 1 to 2 vitamin C tablets, apply them on the ulcer surface, close your mouth for a moment, and do this twice a day.
