Our human brain has many functions, and it also includes many tissues and organs, such as the pons, cerebellum, etc., including the ventricles. The ventricles are divided into many tissues and parts, one of which is the lateral ventricle. I believe everyone has drunk milk, which has a very high nutritional value. Some people say that people with widened lateral ventricles should drink less milk. So should people with widened lateral ventricles drink less milk? Ventriculomegaly is an ultrasound sign in which the width of the fetal lateral ventricle body is greater than 10 mm when measured by ultrasound in the second and third trimesters of pregnancy. Measuring the width of the lateral ventricle is a standard method for prenatal ultrasound examination to determine the degree of fetal neurological diseases and lesions. For fetuses with combined structural abnormalities in other parts of the body or chromosomal abnormalities, it is not recommended to continue the pregnancy. The normal size of the fetal lateral ventricle should be less than 1 cm. The widening of the lateral ventricle is mostly caused by excessive cerebrospinal fluid in the fetus, which can be absorbed by itself in the later stages of the fetus. Do an ultrasound every few weeks to see if it continues to widen. Another point is that if the lateral ventricle widens too much, the doctor will suspect hydrocephalus. In addition to the widening of the ventricle, another obvious accompanying symptom of hydrocephalus is spina bifida. So when you do an ultrasound, ask the doctor to help you see clearly whether the fetus has spina bifida. If not, the fetus should be healthy. Causes: 1. Chromosomal abnormalities: Trisomy 21, Trisomy 18, 47XXY, triploidy, etc. 2. Infection with cytomegalovirus infection, syphilis infection, toxoplasmosis infection, etc. 3. Cerebrospinal fluid circulation disorders include cerebral aqueduct stenosis, Chiari type II malformation, Dandy-Walker malformation, corpus callosum dysgenesis, etc. Enlargement of the lateral ventricle is an ultrasonic sign obtained by ultrasound measurement during pregnancy, and is mainly used to differentiate between various diseases through relevant examinations. 1.21-Trisomy syndrome can be diagnosed by karyotype analysis of fetal somatic cells. 2. Cytomegalovirus infection TORCH screening can determine whether there is cytomegalovirus infection. In addition, CT can detect periventricular calcification. 3. Stenosis of the cerebral aqueduct B-ultrasound shows widening of the lateral ventricles and enlargement of the third ventricle, but the fourth ventricle is not dilated, and the dilated proximal cerebral aqueduct can be seen. If the choroid plexus is shrunk and becomes suspended, hydrocephalus is considered to be present. |
