What to do if you want to vomit? Four methods to help you relieve discomfort

Sometimes, many people will inexplicably experience symptoms of nausea and vomiting, and everyone should be prepared to deal with sudden vomiting reactions. So, what to do if you want to vomit?

1. Try to vomit:

When vomiting is caused by eating unclean food, you should immediately spit out the unclean food as much as possible. The cleaner the better. Otherwise, if the food containing viruses and bacteria continues to remain in the gastrointestinal tract, it will continue to be absorbed by the human body, which may cause toxin poisoning. Therefore, generally speaking, for vomiting caused by this situation, we do not advocate stopping vomiting, but rather inducing vomiting, and it is better to induce vomiting of all the unclean food. In most cases, you will stop vomiting within 12 to 24 hours. If the vomiting symptoms have not passed by then, it is time to seek medical attention.

2. Pay more attention to hydrating your body:

When you vomit, you lose a lot of body fluids, which can lead to dehydration in severe cases. Therefore, you need to drink 1 to 2 cups of water, soda water, light salt water or beverages to replenish water after each vomiting. But it should be noted that the supplementary water should not contain sugar, as sugar will absorb water. If you start vomiting again immediately after drinking water, give yourself a break for 1 to 2 hours and try to rehydrate when the nausea begins to subside.

3. Rest in bed:

If vomiting occurs, the patient should be allowed to rest more and his head should be tilted to one side. When the patient is about to vomit, he should be helped up as soon as possible to avoid choking on vomitus and blocking the trachea, causing tracheal asphyxia or aspiration pneumonia. In addition, in order to relieve stomach discomfort and stop nausea and vomiting, you might as well try placing an ice pack on the patient's stomach, which is very effective.

4. Chewing gum:

Some people have poor vestibular function and may experience motion sickness when sitting on an airplane. At this time, just try chewing a piece of gum, which will give you a good anti-motion sickness and anti-vomiting effect.
