Zhishi Houpu Decoction

1. Introduction to the prescription

Ingredients: 1 liang of Magnolia officinalis, 1 liang of Citrus aurantium, 1 liang of Terminalia chebula (half-raw and half-cooked), half a liang of costusroot, 2 qian of Coptis chinensis, 3 qian of Licorice (roasted), and 2 qian of Rhubarb.

Dosage and Administration: Take 3-5 qian each time, add 1.5 cups of water, boil until 1 cup remains, remove the residue and drink while warm.

Note: Houpo Zhishi San (Volume 22 of "Baoming Gekuo"). Those who suffer from slippery and weak constitution and do not recover for a long time will often develop into dysentery. When Taiyin is transmitted to Shaoyin, it is called evil. Use this soup first to prevent the transmission.

2. Medicinal value of Citrus aurantium

The Chinese medicinal materials Citrus aurantium and Citrus aurantium fructus are made from the fruit of the yellow-peeled orange. The largest production is in Hunan, followed by Hubei and Jiangxi, and there are also small quantities in other provinces and regions.

According to experimental reports. Citrus aurantium has a long-lasting pressor effect and can improve microcirculation, making it suitable for the treatment of shock. Domestic limes actually contain synephrine and N-methyl tyramine. The former has also been isolated from the peel and leaves of red-skinned citrus fruits.

The leaves and flowers of lime contain about 0.2-0.4% aromatic oil, and the peel contains about 1.5-2% oil. The components of the oil include: nerol, nerobdol, linalool and about 20 other categories. It also contains a variety of flavonoids; aurantiamarin, auranetin, hesperidine, etc. The pulp mainly contains citric acid and vitamin C. The peculiar smell may be caused by the presence of putrescine. Foreign varieties of sour orange also contain dipentene, sabinene, myrcene and quinoline alkaloids. The seeds contain fatty oil: mainly oleic acid, linoleic acid and palmitic acid, with a small amount of stearic acid.

3. Medicinal Value of Magnolia Bark

It is mainly produced in Sichuan, Hubei and other places. In Chinese medicinal materials, it specifically refers to the dried bark, root bark and branch bark of the plant. From April to June, peel off the root bark and branch bark and dry it directly in the shade. Put the dry bark into boiling water and boil it slightly, then pile it in a humid place. When it "sweats" until the inner surface of the bark turns purple-brown or tan, steam it until it is soft, take it out, roll it into a tube, and dry it. Cut into strips and use ginger for processing. It has therapeutic effects on diseases such as food stagnation and qi stagnation, abdominal distension and constipation, and dampness blocking the middle burner. It can also be added to cancer drugs.
