Why do you get active bladder?

Many people don't know much about overactive bladder. This is a syndrome with urinary urgency as the main symptom. It often causes patients to urinate frequently, which can cause symptoms of increased nocturia and urinary incontinence. This is quite harmful to this group of people and will significantly affect their daily life and social activities. There are many causes of overactive bladder, such as detrusor muscle instability, bladder hypersensitivity, etc.

Why do you get active bladder?

1. Detrusor instability is caused by non-neurogenic factors, and abnormal contraction of the detrusor during the storage period causes corresponding clinical symptoms. 2. Bladder hypersensitivity causes the urge to urinate even when the bladder capacity is small. 3. Abnormal function of the urethra and pelvic floor muscles. 4. Other reasons such as mental and behavioral abnormalities, hormone metabolism disorders, etc.

What to do if you have active bladder syndrome

Drug treatment:

In terms of drug treatment for overactive bladder, Professor Wu Peng said that M receptor antagonists, such as solifenacin, are first-line treatment drugs recommended by many domestic and international guidelines and can relax the bladder. "These drugs prevent bladder spasms by stopping the voluntary contraction of the detrusor muscle, suppressing the abnormal urge to urinate, allowing the bladder to hold more urine, which can result in less frequent trips to the bathroom and less accidental leakage of urine."

Surgical treatment:

For some patients who do not respond well to behavioral therapy and drug treatment, there is a third line of treatment, which is surgical treatment. A bladder pacemaker gives an electrical stimulation to the sacral nerves that control the bladder, allowing the originally disordered nerve signals to return to normal and allowing the detrusor and pelvic floor muscles to work under the coordination of normal nerve signals. People will urinate when they should and stop when they should.

Behavioral therapy:

Develop a healthy lifestyle. For obese people with higher BMI values, they should pay attention to losing weight; pay attention to the intake of water and beverages: drink 6-8 glasses of water or beverages a day, avoid consuming large amounts of water at one time, quit alcohol and all foods and beverages containing caffeine, try to consume most of the water during the day, and stop drinking water near night; adjust your diet, avoid consuming foods and beverages that irritate the bladder, such as coffee, tea, chocolate, and certain medicines, etc.
