Causes of deep vein obstruction

Causes of deep vein obstruction

Deep vein blockage is very harmful to humans. It is usually manifested clinically as peripheral vascular disease. There are many causes of this disease, such as slow venous blood flow and poor blood circulation. In addition, if the venous wall has been damaged, it will also cause deep vein blockage. At this time, it is necessary to carry out good treatment in time to avoid worsening of symptoms.

Slow venous blood flow

In various surgeries, spinal anesthesia or general anesthesia can easily lead to peripheral venous dilation and slow venous flow; or the anesthetic effect can cause complete paralysis of the lower limb muscles and loss of contraction function. After the operation, the patient rests in bed due to incision pain and other reasons, and the lower limb muscles are in a relaxed state for a long time, causing blood flow stagnation, thereby inducing deep vein thrombosis in the lower limbs.

Hypercoagulable state

Hypercoagulable state of blood is the main factor causing venous thrombosis. Various major surgeries cause the hypercoagulable platelet aggregation ability to increase; after surgery, the levels of both serum proplasmin activator and plasmin inhibitor are increased, thereby reducing fibrinolysis. After splenectomy, the sudden increase in platelets can increase blood coagulability. Burns or severe dehydration can cause blood concentration, which can also increase blood coagulability.

Damage to the vein wall

There are three factors that can easily cause damage to the vein wall:

(1) Mechanical injury: Local venous contusion, laceration or fracture fragment trauma can all cause venous thrombosis. Femoral neck fractures can injure the common femoral vein, and pelvic fractures can often injure the common iliac vein or its branches, both of which can be complicated by iliofemoral vein thrombosis.

(2) Chemical injury: Intravenous injection of various irritating solutions and hypertonic solutions, such as various antibiotics, organic iodine solutions, hypertonic glucose solutions, etc., can stimulate the venous endothelium to varying degrees, leading to phlebitis and venous thrombosis.

(3) Infectious injury: Suppurative thrombophlebitis is caused by perivenous infection foci and is relatively rare. For example, infectious endometritis can cause septic thrombophlebitis of the uterine veins.
