The difference between negative and positive tumors

The difference between negative and positive tumors

The human body has many diseases. Most of them are easy to occur and there are many reasons for their occurrence. However, some diseases are caused by habits accumulated over time, such as tumors. Tumors are also classified. The test results of tumors are divided into negative and positive, which are actually benign and malignant. There is a difference between the two. So what is the difference between negative and positive tumors?

Positive tumors and negative tumors should refer to malignant tumors and benign tumors. In layman's terms, the difference is that the former contains cancer cells and can spread. The latter does not contain cancer cells and should not spread.

A tumor refers to a new growth (neogrowth) formed by the proliferation of local tissue cells under the action of various tumorigenic factors. Because this new growth is mostly a space-occupying mass-like protrusion, it is also called a neoplasm.

Based on the cellular characteristics of the neoplasms and the degree of harmfulness to the body, tumors are divided into two categories: benign tumors and malignant tumors. Cancer is the general term for malignant tumors. It should be noted that cancer and carcinoma are two different concepts. Carcinoma refers to epithelial malignant tumors. For example, a malignant tumor formed by the colon mucosal epithelium is called colorectal mucosal epithelial carcinoma, or colorectal cancer for short. Cancer formed by the skin epithelium is called skin epithelial cancer, or skin cancer for short.

Therefore, if a doctor says that someone has cancer, it means that the patient has a malignant tumor; if a doctor says that someone has gastric cancer, it means that the patient has a cancer formed in the gastric mucosal epithelium; if a doctor says that the patient has gastric sarcoma, it means that this malignant tumor is not formed by mucosal epithelial cells, but may be caused by the malignant transformation of smooth muscle cells, or may be a malignant lymphoma of the stomach. But it can also be said in general terms that he had cancer.
